Suspension settings

Going to Deal's Gap next week, for the eighth straighth year, but the first time on a real sport bike. Previously rode the Gap on my 89 ZX10, and while acquitting itself rather well, to the amazement of everyone, including myself, it was a bit like wrestling a buffalo around those curves. So, could any/all of you recommend suspension settings/tire pressures for a 220lb rider? I don't want a racetrack ride, but a firm, semi-comfortable firm, controlled ride.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have some mods done - LP signals (flush mount V), HIndle high exit Ti s/o, Hyperpro damper. Will post pics if I ever: a) take any; b: ever figure out how to post them.

Even @ 220lbs the rear preload may still need to be backed off 1 full rotation (or perhaps 2) to allow the rider sag to be set in a usable range (28-30mm) and to allow the bike to squat under acceleration. The front end isn't too bad in stock form but it can be tweeked to your desire.

Actually, he's my best friend, from London here in Canada, moved down there 2-3 years ago, a manager at GDX automotive. He has an 04 Ford F150 ext cab 4x4 black, red 03 Mustang SVT Cobra convertible, and a 65 green Chev Impala 4 dr, but I think the Chev is off the road right now doing some restoration work on it. I mention the vehicles, b/c Salisbury ain't that big & guys notice other vehicles runnin' around town. I make it down a couple of times a yr - it's about a 12-13 hr drive for me, but woth it. It's probablhy a good thing he moved away, limiting our contact, or we might be dead by now!!!

Jammer,
I'm in Hampton Va if you feel like making a detour during your trip. I'd head your way but don't know that I can swing the time off.

The Sport Rider settings seem to work pretty well.

Especially backing the rear shock compression all the way off.

I'm prolly 240ish suited and the biggest blessing was the recommendation to dial all the rear shock compression out.

The rear was beatin the crap outta me - the front was Ok but seems to me that the adjustments recommended for the front gave a lil better feedback.

I wanna say the setting were : front- 2 lines preload showing, 7 clicks form max on compression and rebound (I think) and the rear was compression dialed all the way out with 1.75 turns of rebound.

I have the front at 3 lines showing right now but will prolly dial in the extra line tonight to see how it does tomorrow.

I have read that the rear shock should have a turn or two taken outta the rear spring but I think the factory preload setting is working pretty well (at first I thought there was too much but now I pretty much beleive that the harshness of the compression was most of the problem).

I can say that I added a half turn of compression to the rear last week and it is very noticeable so I'll be turnin it back out tonight.

Speakin of tomorrow - you gonna come out and join us?
