oil filter(s) for 10

I read that the 10 should get the 16097-0002 filter,
NOT 16097-1072, dealer sold me a 16097-1070, is this ok?

once again.. from the top..
before reading the SB, dealer sold me a 1070, which is the only one he had and said it would work. (bovine simply said no, without explanation or credulence.. should I believe this as truth and rule out the option of the 1070? again, SB advised against a 1072 NOT a 1070)
so... I'm just tryin to prevent another trip BACK to the dealers and the hassles of exchanging stuff that isn't necessary. (and wouldn't it be nice to know for certain whether or not there is more than ONE filter for the 10, in case the 0002's become rare)
hope to get a definitive answer regarding the 1070
that's all

How bout 'if you're unsure, don't use it'? Are you located somewhere where you can't go back to the dealer and ask for the right filter? Or documentation showing that the 1070 is ok to use?

called the dealer to inform of the SB, he didn't have a clue. e-mailed kawasaki hoping to get the scoop and informed them of the SB on this site. got an automated reply that I would get an answer in a week. would like to know sooner (duh). also informed them their rep. is on the line regarding their dealers not knowing what filters are safe or not and that they better be certain with their answer of what filters are safe. I'll copy their reply when I get it.

also a real pain in the ass and waste of time fighting traffic to get to the shop, then dealing with the hassle of exchange at the parts counter (would rather avoid all this crap if possible) this time is better spent RIDING

The only filter you should be using is the 16097-0002.....Dont use the 1072 or the 1070 on your ZX10.

The 8 feeder holes in the threaded portion of the filter are a little larger in diameter on the 0002 , and the over pressure relief spring pressure is a little different.

Just do yourself a favor and use the proper filter.

thanks for the straight poop extreme, I'll spread it to the parts guy if he gives me crap like "this filter 1070 will work just as well as the 0002"
