Of his era, yes. Ever?- no. Hailwood, Ago, Sheene, Roberts, Spencer, Gardner, Lawson, Rainey, Schwantz, Doohan, and so many others. Hero's and the best of their era.

I would have watched but I was too busy crashing the 10 at Putnam Raceway. Anyone have some Barney Rubble sized leathers for sale?

Never had a chance to see the above mentioned, but Rossi
is the greatest rider I have ever seen. To leave the
all-mighty HONDA and ride a somewhat inferior bike and
to do as well as he is doing is incredible. He was born
to ride.
This is also the reason why I never cared for Carl Fogerty. he left Ducati to Ride Honda and did not do well and came
back to the best ride (Ducati) to regain his throne.
This is what Kobe Bryant is going to do next season, leave the Lakers to prove he is the best and does not need Shaq.
Unfortunatly he will not be sucessful in his quest to be
Michael Jordan.

Even Collin Edwards said "He (Rossi) is just that fast". I don't think people can compare riders fairly... I have seen old footage, I believe Rossi would hold his own,but who knows. No disrespect Mr.B Everybody wants the heros of their time to be the best. (i.e. Michael Jordan) Im just in awe watching Rossi.

true, true . At Catalunya there were quite a few of the old legends like Schwantz, Rainey. Both said that Rossi was probably the one that would have been right in there mixing it with them if he would have been around at their time.
btw: my bike racing hero was, is and ever will be Eddie Lawson, haven't heard from him the last couple of years?

gee and wat did make those racers a heros, and not only the best in their era?
guess he will be hero when he stops racing!
I got feeling he(rossi) will be greatest of them all. He will not manage only maybe wat spencer did (won 250 and 500 same day)
