Tank removal
Can some good person tell me how to disconnect the fuel-line from the petrol tank. I need to remove the tank to investigate the gear position sensor voltages. I have designed a PIC microcontrolled gear indicator. It works great on the bench with a 6 way switch and a resistor bank to mimic the actual GPS. However, I need to find out what the reference voltage is.
Is the fuel connector a pinch-n-twist, a tug, or what?
Thanks.

I think it is a spread and pull!

The orange clip is C-shaped, and can be removed by prying with a small, flat blade screw driver.

someone indicated (bovinespong....er...something) that the voltages for each gear are listed in the service manual. So maybe someone could just look them up and post them. might save you a lot of time....

No, I think only the gear resistances of the GPS are there. However, I would LOVE to know the voltages, if anyone has been there already, or indeed if they are in said manual...
So far I have measured:
Neutral = 4.23V
1st = 3.06V
Then it was supper time. Pig that I am...
I am going to splice in properly tomorrow, so the V's may change slightly.

This could be a little more clear, but here it is out of the manual:

The little orange "u" shaped clip has locking tabs on each side. Squeeze the open sides of the "u" towards the center to release the lock, then push it through the hose connector. Once the lock tabs have been released, you can pull (pry) it on out. It doesn't take a lot of effort. "Do not enter into a contest of wills with the fasteners on your motorcycle" (Bultaco owners manual, circa 1969). Once the orange lock is completely retracted pull the hose off with a firm but steady pull.

Thanks for the info guys (nice one, 12RPilot). As usual, by the time the cavalry came, I had it figured out...
Hope I remember how to put it all back together
Does the manual state where there is a switched 12v supply available for accessories? I will be able to find one, but if one is indicated, it would certainly help...

That best available 12v source is a little hard to figure out by looking at the schematic. What looks like a good place in the manual may be buried deep in the depths of a wiring harness. However, the white wire to the ignition switch is labeled "battery". I have the schematic at the following url. It's a little big to post.
