well, it may be too hot to ride the 10R
Temp was 112 deg F today.
Freeway surface temp was over 130, wind was at my back, I'm in gear - boots, JR jacket, gloves, lid. Cooked like a lobster.
Bike was at 221 deg F at one point.
Commute home sucked. I'll stick to early morning canyon runs now until September.

umm... 33 psi front, 31 rear. Commuting usually higher, but I didn't change the pressure after last weekend.

don't have that problem here (Calgary Alberta Canada - Go Flames!). Average about 72 degrees in our summer. Might break 90 3 times.
Kicks ass until it snows in from October - April.

Y'all should move to North Georgia: no 110 degree temps, no (OK, very little) snow, and the best twisties East of the Rockies. Some damn good looking women too.

The nights that it's still 100 at midnight are not far off.
Tomorrow morning's 05:00 canyon scratch will start at 85 deg F.
Then I get to change the rear tire in the garage, midday. Fun...

KZ...you really shouldnt be riding on the street with that low of air pressure!!!...When the tires are underinflated, they overheat causing the tire to slide under acceleration...
Unless your DragRacing, the tire doesnt have enough time to over heat...
Ride Safe guys...

Well, when I commute, I have it at 38/38. Twisties, I drop it down. It's just that last week I was too lazy to fire up the air compressor...
I'm changing the rear later so I'll have the compressor out today.

I have brought out my summer squid riding suit for this hot south Florida weather.
T-Shirt
Shorts (sometimes thin jeans)
Sneakers
I can't help it.
I love my riding gear but can't do it.
I wore it for the last time last week and was sweating driving at 60MPH.

The left coast along the coast and nearby mountains are the best year'round...I love SoCal riding...avg temp is probably 85?...NorCal, too, except when it gets really foggy...and if it gets too hot or humid, I take the air-conditioned car...no squid attire for me...I can't do it...I never plan on turfing but you never know...road-rash is road-rash no matter what speed it is...I wanna ride to ride another day

I much prefer sweating over covering my body with Neosporin. Won't leave the garage without full leathers, spine protector, boots, gloves and helmet. No matter what the temps are. With over 130,000 miles of back highway riding, I have rode up on and worked far too many accidents involving those with lesser attaire.
When it gets over 90 degrees, I try to wear my Camelback or drink pleanty of fluids (not my usual Mt. Dews), stop often (every 50 miles or so), try not to stay inside too long, but stand (or sit) in the shade during those stops and most importantly, ride with a friend so we can keep an eye on each other for heat related problems. We can still log in 250+ miles of riding on such day.
It can not get too hot for me not to ride and it never gets as hot as my unprotected body sliding on pavement to not wear my leathers. It's uncomfortable wearing leathers when the measured heat index exceeds 120, but not as uncomfortable as trying to eat or shower with a road rash. It's been said so many times before,There are two kinds of riders. Those that have been down and those that will go down.
I've been down and I can't imagine going more than 10 miles without wearing full gear. I also can't imagine why I would even bother to start the bike for a ride of 10 miles anyway.
Just my worthless opinion.

I agree 100%. Atleast crispin admits that what he is doing makes him a squid, if he is OK with it, then so be it!
But me? I won't even make a run to the grocery store (1/2 mile) without a jacket, gloves, helmet, pants (not leather, I'll compromise here for jeans), and solid shoes (not my SIDI Vertebrae, but solid laced up shoes).
If there is any riding involved at all (distance/speed/turns), it's full leathers ALL THE WAY. Regardless of heat. I will cook, bake, etc to stay alive. And yes, I have lived and ridden in places like NV and AZ.
If you're LUCKY, you'll get away with Neosporin. You think it is hot in leathers? Try the burn of skin grafts and road rash in the ICU. And oh yes, it WILL happen.
But like I said, if there are organ donors out there, cool! As long as they all know that they 1) raise my insurance and 2) give responsible riders a bad image and for that I will always be somewhat hostile.

I wear gear, since I've been down before, been lucky, too - no road rash.
I wear leather, and when it gets too hot on the freeway, it's like wearing saran wrap and riding into a hairdryer.
So, I save the rides for the weekend getaways in the mountains, or the 05:00 romps into the canyons at lower altitudes, before it gets too hot.

When it gets to hot I just dont ride. The older I get the more intolerable I become to the heat or cold.
