friction plates and springs?

ok, so I installed my 16T C/S sprocket yesterday and I must say, I love it. This is how the bike should come from the factory. But enough about that...

I expected to be able to power it up more easily with the new sprocket, but I can't because the clutch seems to be slipping too much. In first at 5K I can now whack the throttle and bring it up (without chopping first), but the thing just won't stay up, even at WOT. Also, when just getting on it hard in first (not trying to wheelie), I get the sensation of wheelspin (lagging feeling). After shifting to second though, everything is right with the world again and it pulls hard like it should.

So my question is... has anyone replaced the friction plates and springs on theirs, or have any input as to the effectiveness of this solution? Also, does anyone know what I would replace them with? I've never bought aftermarket plates or springs, so this is kinda new to me.

Don't know about EBC or Vesrah, but the Barnett springs were junk after one weekend in my zx10. Barnett springs, OTOH, were good. I ended up using 1000R plates and discs in the 10 clutch basket, and was able to get one extra disc and plate in the pack. No more slipping clutch. Are the 12R discs (and springs) the same as the 10R? I'd check the spring wire diameter of the 12R springs. Does Barnett make springs for the 10R?

You mean you ordered CBR 1000RR fibers and put them with the stock steels and it works???

How many fibers and steels??

yes, these are my questions as well...

10rmotor, in the first sentece of your post, you say that Barnett springs were junk after one weekend, but Barnett springs, on the other hand, were good... which is it? are they good or bad?

my bad

Sorry guys, my bad. Barnett discs were (and are) junk. The Barnett springs are good.

As for the other confusions, I'm not talking honda cbr. I'm talking forerunner to the original ninja zx10, the 1000R, of (yikes) almost 20 years ago.

A word of caution on ANY bike.
If the seller or dealer brags about installing EBC, Barnett, or Vesrah clutches.... that would be your cue to start walking.

For some reason Kawi makes the clutches perfect for their bikes. All others shed material too fast and end up clogging oil pickups and passages with the debris.
At the very least any motor without OEM clutches should have the oil pan removed and the pickup screen cleaned as well as the clutch disassembled and cleaned with solvent.
