Where to get the new 218's?

The Dunlop 218 tires...where can you order them at? The stealership is even saying they cannot order them at this point. Dont see them online at any of the stores either...

Where do you get stock replacements at for these tires?

Well, I think they fit (rear hugger), and they're a known quantity.

I don't think they're bad tires at all. Better than the 207's were.

That aint sayin much - 208ZR's are a decent stand in for a street tire.

Of course as mentioned earlier the Diablos are king.

Street tires I run are the 208ZR's - I like em and was getting bout 5k mi outta the rears and did replace the set when rear was done.

Diablo street compound is essentially the M1 replacement tire and is also a very good tire ( I get the Dunslops fer $200 a set so that's what I run).

Actually Ankleboy600 has an 04 GSXR600 and he wants the 218's for them, and we just havent had any luck finding them.

I dont understand how all these new bikes, the 10R and R1, come stock with tires that arent even available to purchase? What's the reasoning in that?

The manufacturers will bid on a contract for tires and then that whole batch will go into production bikes - until such time as Dunslop has met the need for the builders then ya won't see em fer sale.

put it differently, if I might...

Dunlop contracted with Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha to provide 218's. These are going on three models - the 10R, the R1, and the GSX-R750.

This is something of a coup for Dunlop - the bikes are sold in Europe with BT-014s, not Dunlops - and they've contracted to provide a certain number of tires.

This is lucrative. They probably won all three contracts where they expected to win two, or only one. They are servicing their contracts and obligations - which almost certainly have terms and conditions that Dunlop could meet, but penalties if they do not - which probably nearly fill their capacity on the facilities used for such tires.

This will drive costs up on the street tire replacement 218s when they come out, or Dunlop will have to produce a lot quickly to tap into the demand for OEM replacements. If Dunlop has a good product, well and good. If not, they will lose market share on the replacement market.

This may stir the pot a little! Why the hell would anybody want to put 218's back on there bike? There are a lot better options available, I for one will not be searching for a deal on this tire!

Really? Cool for Dunlop, then... The initial reports (maybe it was in Australia?) were that the bike was going to other markets with the Bridgestones; thanks for the update.
