Jardine slip-on question I installed my CF slip-on last night. Looks great but I can't stop it from leaking around the clamp at the botton of the s pipe. I noticed the factory one had a small insert in it right there. Was I supposed to reuse that? The directions didn't mention it. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

This is a good one for K. Bryant . Sounds like a quality control issue . Either the directions need a revamp or you get what you pay for dealyio . I am confident he can help you out .

Odd...I put mine on day before yesterday, had no leaks at all. You do not reuse the muffler gasket, as the inner diameter of the s bend is much smaller than the stock pipe. How have you positioned the clamp? Can you provide a pic?

marsh14 - that's a new one on me. The T-Bolt clamp supplied puts more than enough pressure on the slotted inlet adaptor to seal it. Not sure I understand how you "pushed it on as far as I could"? The S-Bend simply bottoms out on the collector when you slide it on. Simply install the clamp flush with the inlet tube; no further. That will cover the slots and pinch the tube shut around the collector when you tighten it down.
I just grabbed one out of stock 5 minutes ago and installed it on my own 10. No leaks. If you need another clamp, just let me know and/or contact me personally and we'll get ya fixed up.

dket - since you appear to be taking somewhat of an expert's stance on your opinion as to the issue, perhaps you can share with me your experience with my ZX10 Slip-On that you would state "you get what you pay for dealiyo"?

I didn't get out of work until late so I didn't check it. What I meant was that I put it on as far as it would go as you explained. It was pretty cold here this morning and I could see the exhaust coming out around the clamp. Maybe I didn't put it in the right spot. I will check tomorrow. Thanks

Why ?? I don't get into slip-ons K. Bryant . They are a waste of time IMO . I was just referring Marsh14 to you with his faulty slip-on . Then all the telephone tough guys jump on your broken down wagon to try to fuel the fire .
I have heard the same comments in the past from Hindle pipe owners . This doesn't fit or that doesn't line up right . As everyone knows Hindle is another cheap pipe company .

I don't claim to be an expert by any stretch but I've been doing some research on exhausts for the ZX-10R the past week and a half. I ruled out a full system primarily because of cost, and felt that the last thing I really "need" is more top end power (especially at the expense of low to midrange performance and arrest-me-now sound levels. Plus, I need a steering damper) However, I wanted a high quality, well designed slip on that made more usable power through the powerband, and of course a less constipated, deep, litre-class rumble in the exhaust note.
From the information I could find, only Jardine, Akarpovic, Arrow, and Two Brothers published dyno charts for their slip on systems. Micron and Muzzy don't seem to quote any numbers. Unfortunately, the Two Brothers chart tells us nothing as they dyno'd the bike in two different gears, and the chart itself is plotted horsepower over mph (even so, they showed only a 2hp gain in peak) The Akra and Arrow peak numbers are higher (European bikes, different tuning maybe?) but the hp gains from the slip on exhaust are pretty much in line with what Jardine has accomplished (~4-5hp)
That said, I decided on the Jardine slip-on for several reasons:
1) Cost - the Jardine I ordered is a carbon slip on with Ti pipe, Akras and Arrows have a stainless steel midpipe and cost a fair bit more than the deal I got. (Muzzy offers a Ti pipe as well, but it was $100 more than what I could get the Jardine for)
2) Availability - Not just initial purchase availability, but from what I am hearing, it is fairly easy to get parts if need be. People have also commented on excellent customer service which is important to me.
3) Quality - I'll have to post a addendum to this once I actually receive my pipe. Board members who have the slip on seem to rave about the attention to detail.
4) Sound - Those who have heard the Jardine's describe a deep, throaty tone. I'm not interested in a raspy twang.
5) Performance - From dyno charts, it seems the Jardine never dipped below stock numbers, but ramped up gains from a usable 3k rpm and never looks back. However, would you feel 4hp more when you already have 150+ to play with?
Anyhow, that's my take so far. I am in no way affiliated with Jardine and personally I am struggling with the fact that I am buying pipes for my Kawi from a company who also makes exhausts for cruisers and trucks (yikes!).
My slip on should arrive this weekend, so I'll hopefully post some actual experiences, and maybe a pic or sound bite if someone is willing to host it.

Rspec99> Don't forget that they also make the pipes for the honda factory team and quite a few others. I also am in no way affiliated with KB or Jardine, and I don't even have one of their pipes(yet) they do however, sponsor this site and from what I have witnessed first hand from others close to me, have extremely good customer service. Now if I could just get KB to send me of his pipes (ti) I would also be able to tell first hand how good they are.

Do ya'll have any plans to come out with a high-mount slip-on? I really want to go with Jardine, but if I were to buy something in the next month I'd have to limit my decision to those manufacturers who offer a high-mount. So far I've only seen one from Micron and Devil... Micron- heard these have a raspy tone, not what I'm looking for.... Devil- Don't know much about these

After my CF slip on arrived, I was stunned to the amount of attention that was put into almost every detail of the system (the clamp bolt could have been shorter). It's easy to see why Honda uses Jardine since the fit and finish of the canister is equal to the almost sterile, perfection Honda has long been known for.
Installation was less than 10 minutes, including a smoke break between getting the tools and actually installing the pipe.
I have enjoyed outstanding service and customer support from Muzzy with both the CF/Ti system and the damper on my 12R. That is why I'm getting another damper from Muzzy for my 10R (even though I was real tempted to get an Ohlins).
Having the chance to actually met and ride with Mr. Bryant (Doug hates it when I refer to him as Mr. Meyer and I figure Kerry will too ), I knew that his commitment to customer satisfaction and quality is every bit as high as Muzzy's. Though I would have never imagined having a Jardine system on anything I owned that was green, I have no doubt that I will be pleased with my choice for many years to come.
I can also assure you that if the above is not true, I'll let ya'll know. I don't see it happening though. Anytime someone of Kerry's or Doug's position takes interest in the satisfaction of the end using customer instead of telling us to just call their "customer support folks", the odds of having an unreconcilable problem is less than zero.
Thank you Kerry for bringing another quality product option to the 10R owners' table.
