Get a piece of 3/8" x 36" steel round stock at the Homey Depot (or get fancy and find some 10mm drill rod). Put it through the swingarm pivot shaft, put jack stands under it, and lower the bike onto the stands off your rear stand. Get the stands as close to the frame as possible. Much safer than that contraption and yours for about $10.

Like what others? If all you need is to get the tire in the air, get a Pitbull spool stand and a set of spools. That is a tool you will use for the rest of your motorcycling life. The stand you're looking at is for unweighting the rear suspension for servicing the shock, linkages, etc. Not something you're going to need every day. It works by inserting conical pins into the ends of the swingarm axle. This has got to generate some spreading force on the arms that carry those pins. The arms look to be about 18" long and one of them is fixed with a hand tightened set screw. Do the physics. I have a set of jackstands that are height adjustable and cost maybe $15 for the set. A steel rod from the hardware store will run another $4. That setup is bullet-proof. You do need a rear stand to use it though.

...what another cool idea, bovineboy!...I'm just a steel rod away from your set-up...first the screen, now the rod!...thanks, dude!

Keep the jackstands as close as possible to the bike. The 10R is quite young and can only take a 3/8" shaft.
