Just put on a 16T front sprocket.....

..........and it is niiiiiiiiiiice. Can tell alot of difference down low, and especially on hard acceleration, amd very pleased with that $23 I spent. I highly recommend in, and it only took about 25 mins to install. In case anyone else wants to order one, its an AFAM Sprocket, PART #28401........

Is there more vibration in the bike when you changed the sprocket? I know on the 12R I changed the sprocket to a aftermarket and it didnt have the rubber groment in it, it vibrated way to much? So i used a zx11D sprocket with the rubber groment and the solution was fixed. Is there a rubber in the factory sprocket?

Agreed, that is a good point I hadn't considered. One more reason to add teeth to the rear sprocket instead of subtracting from the front, I guess.

I just kinda prefer steel sprockets for the amount of street miles I would LIKE to put my bike. I would not even sweat the speedo difference.

...maybe the rubber just 'dampens' out or 'absorbs' some of the incidental vibration frequencies from that spinning front sprocket?...I dunno...I'm just guessing...my brain not so big

Worm Hole is right. It acts as a dampening device. So does the 10R have the rubber in its front sprocket?

Just changed to a 520 kit, and there is no grommet. Haven't ridden yet to know the difference, but the weight savings combined was substantial.

I ordered 16 front tooth sprocket from AFAM ;got talked into ordering steel rear 41 tooth also (stock 39) as sales person informed Kawasaki team has been chewing up rear sprockets.

I might need to order chain ;don't know just did at the spur of the moment and spent $43 or so extra dollars for little larger rear just in case.

Will find out soon if I need a larger chain;figure 16 front gives a little slack.

Still experimenting on all this for ZX-10R;could add 15 inch front for not too much money also if I choose to. I know that I have a very tall first gear to work with as is (stock)....

I also prefer the add teeth to the rear . It gives more leverage on the rear wheel making it easier to turn . Same effect as larger brake rotors .
