Did you have to buy a reverse shifter to go to a GP shift pattern? Or can you just turn the linkage joint 180 degrees?

Flip the linkage joint at the spline. No other pieces needed. Thatz how I run mine (1 up/5 dn). On mine, I notched the fairing with a dremel. Took 15 seconds and it looks like it's supposed to be there. Piece-o-cake.

Doesn't look that bad, really. Like KB said, it looks like it's supposed to be like that... kinda.

Ok, lets start again

I just pulled the rubber black piece back to review what I would call a "ball joint". There was nothing to unbolt. I guess if I pulled hard enough it would pop off, but somehow I dont thing that is what the group intended.

If I unbolt New bolt #1, I would assume (from the pic above) that I could swap the 1 down & 5 up for 1 up & 5 down (provided I want to cut the plastic).

I would guess you are all not talking about bolt #1 in relation to adjusting the shifter.

If I pull the plastic off of bolt #3 going in the direction of bolt #1, I would think I could get a wrench on that & loosen it up. There is another bolt (hiding in my picture) towards the right of bolt #3.

I guess I could loosen #3 but I am unsure how loosening that one would allow me to adjust the shifter.

Bolt #2 (which is really a rubber piece & ball joint).

So, Zeta sadly I have not adjusted it yet. Any advice would be helpful.

Or download my original photo & edit it to show me what the heck im missing here (look for original.jpg) http://richardklein.com/temp/10r/ (right click on it & choose save as).

Rich my son. This is way too much effort. Don't touch the rubber boot. Do exactly as I say. Let me simplify for you. Get your 10mm wrench. Loosen the nut you have noted as #3. Loosen the same looking nut on the opposite end of the rod. Then simply turn the rod with your fingers to adjust it. Tighten both nuts. Your done!

Ahh, so turning the rod will adjust the shifter itself

I think i see the light!

I will let you all know how it goes tomorrow!

Rich... the only reason I told you to pull back the rubber is so that you can use two wrenches to loosen the locknut. One to hold the end assembly in place and one to turn the nut. In your last picture above, don't touch anything on #1 or #2... #3 is the locknut you loosen. If you peel back the rubber about 2mm to the left of that locknut, you will see that the end piece is square at the edge, allowing you to put a wrench on it to keep it from turning (look at redelk's first picture above). If you simply stick a wrench on the locknut and try to loosen it without a wrench holding the end piece, you could damage the ball joint.

Well, that was as easy as predicted. I probably raised it half an inch & I am pretty happy. Now hopefully after all that I like the boots (kinda price at 350 for boots). But they make me taller!!

Thanks for all the help & patience!
