Usable Mirrors? (Aftermarket perhaps?)
Hi,
I was curious if anyone has heard of any plans to make any aftermarket mirrors where you can actually see behind you. I love my 10R but I hate that I can never see behind me.
Maybe if they were a little longer that would fix it. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Rich

I'm installing a fish-eyed micro-camera out the tail and a 3inch LCD monitor under my windscreen

I'm as frustrated as you RichT. However I don't do alot of riding in town so I've been lazy about searching for alternatives. I was hoping by now that someone would have come up with a mirror with longer stalks. I may just go with bar end mirrors. I can't afford the method that close2death is using.

I read the post about making the mirror arm perpendicular to the bike, then adjusting the mirrors. Works for me!

Basically, adjust the mirror arm until it's perpendicular to the bike. That puts the mirror the fartherest out from the fairing it can be. Then adjust the mirrors, and you'll have about a half mirror of usuable view behind you.

Of course, this all depends on how big you are, how far your elbows stick out, and/or how thick your jacket is... I've found that the couple of times I've ridden with no jacket I can see fine.

...hell I ride so damn fast, I don't care what's behind me...ok...just kiddin' ...I'm a big-ish guy and an even bigger barndoor with my gear on...but I remember doing as swft suggested and it gave me enough to see out back and on the sides...I have a stiff neck, so head checks beyond the front of my delts don't work for me...if I have to, I move on the seat to the side and/or dip my shoulder if I have to...it works for me...we don't want the 10R bikes lookin' too much like Mickey Mouse, now do we?
...bar-ends might be another option for me on the 10R...black bar-ends...Batman black...

I have to agree, the stock mirrors are terrible. I actually thought the mirrors on my '03 12 were excellent. I'm 6'1, 190 lbs. I have to resort to the lift the elbow deal, or turn and look. Can't resort to the extend the stalks out deal. It screws up my lane splitting. Oh well, guess ya can't have it all.....
