Scotts damper or Muzzy damper?
I keep hearing the 10r needs a damper. What's your opinion?

I bought the scotts.
Basically I think most dampners do about the same.
I think the Scotts just looks high-tech plus the gold fits the rest of the bike.

I have a Scott's on my 636 and it works fine. Theres a slight flat spot (For lack of a better term) but it's really nothing major. The only thing I dislike about it on my 636 us ut gas very little middle ground so I find myself constantly adjusting it while on the street and even sometimes on the certain tracks.
For my 10R I'm going with the Hyperpro unit. Ive heard nothing but good things said about the unit, and I'm very interested in the reactive automatic speed damp aspects. If it works like they claim, and it's only 30 bucks more than a Scott's it could be possibly the best buy for my ten i'll ever get.

Scotts I Think
The more people you ask the more answers you are going to get. From the people I've spoke with including 4 & 6 racing everyone seems to say the scotts is the best although it costs more. The Muzzy's is in second and the hyperpro is thrid.
Just from what I've heard.

Dude - The Hyperpro comes in two flavors, active and passive. Muzzy sells the better (active) of the two. But you could buy the active Hyperpro as well. The value of the Muzzys, imho, is the mounting kit.

I went with Muzzy.

I saw the Hyperpro mounted on a 10 last night - looked pretty nice.
Pretty sure that's how I'll go (when I've beat a certain ticket that coincidentally is about the same exact $).

I heard somewhere that piston type dampers like the Ohlins & Hyperpro are more susceptible to damage if you lay the bike down... anyone know anything about this?

just looking at the different types of dampers would seem to indate so. rotary style is a little box with a small arm, whereas piston type has a long shaft that could get hit more easily and that needs to be straight to work correctly. just common sense really. but given how the muzzys unit is mounted on top and not on the side, i'd think it would be pretty safe unless you have a really big crash and the bike lands on the tank. a simple lowside shouldnt damage it.

It looks great.
Unforntantly I have to go on vacation this weekend or I would have that bi%ch installed and writing a review here for you all.
Damn family and work seems to get in the way of riding all the time.

I have an older Hyper Pro on my 9R and it has served well minus the infamous Leak problem associated with Hyper Pro. Now I have heard the new units are much improved. Like the 10R it is mounted above the tank and has survived 3 track crashes. I like the looks of the stock HyperPro better than the Muzzy (which I beleive is just a reworked Hyperpro or a good copy) Not keen on the looks of the Scotts or GPR but I know they work rather well.
