Tire Selection

What is the great difference between installing a 190/55 17 or 190/60 17 on a rim where 190/50 17 is the OEM size? Correct me if I am wrong, but the first # represents tire width, second # is sidewall hieghth and the last 17 is the rim radius. So the higher sidewall will cause rubbing on my rear hugger and I will have to pay attention to swingarm to tire clearances right?

Reason being, I have Pirelli Super Corse s 180/50 17 s on my 929 for quicker steering (yeah, like it needs it). Well, I would love to keep those for track tires as they are brand spanking new buns and I would like a quicker warming street tire. I plan on buying Diablos but would like to keep my options open.

The ZX10R will have to wait until next summer.

Your knowledge is greatly appreciated.

that's more or less correct, tho the second # is the overall tire height, not the nearly nonexistant sidewall. specifically it the height as a percentage of the tire width, which is specified in mm.
