Dual Headlights?
Hi,
Has anyone figured a way or made a part or something to get both headlights working (aside from the high beam switch)?
Thanks,
Rich

I met a guy last night that transplanted dual HID's into his but they were H4 bulbs and when we left, I really don't think they did mush more than stock (he had adjusted the high beam as low as possible and runs them all the time).

I keep my High Beam on all the time.
1) I feel a bit safer (I got hit about 10 years ago and still have not forgotten)
2) I fu#king hate when someone tells me I have a light out on the bike.

there is a thread here somewhere discussing the dual headlight issue you may want to do a search for. some decent info in there.

Sorry - yes it was a 10R.
There is a guy on another board that makes an H7 kit for about $2-300 (if I remember right).
There is another 10 around here using a BMW HID setup (not a clean install though).

yeah i think the one for the 12 was from a mercedes setup...
i also prefer to run high beam all the time...these new pia bulbs though, high beam went out on one, so i am forced to run low beam since i prefer to have both lights going all the time...
dont know if ill spend the extra dough for the piaa's but there actually the same price for a pair as getting 2 single stock bulbs from ron ayers

then u'r paying way too much on stock bulbs. u get them from any auto parts store for like $10 each max. just plain h4 bulbs. the phillips/sylvania silverstar (i think that's what they're called) are supposed to perform about the same, possibly better, and are something like $20 each.

oh, that is for the 12, not the 10. tho the h7 bulbs for the 10 ought to be around $10 a piece too.

I haven't gotton mine yet, however, I will use a jumper(like on th e12) change the relay to work like the 12 light(both run all time and the high beams should work the same)

justoyz - any place I could buy that relay? Does it "bolt on" to the 10R?

justoyz, the 10 does not have dual filament bulbs, so that wont do anything. I assume when you switch on the high beam on the 10 that both sides r on?

k, then that's all u can do without trying to stick some dual filament bulbs in there. dig up that other thread on headlights for some thoughts on why it may or may not work satisfactorily.

ya when you run it on high beam then one is brighter than the other, no win situation if you ask me as far as looks go.

Before you retrofit two filiment bulbs (or HID), keep in mind that the distance from element to reflector is critical for a proper beam. A lightbulb element that is anywhere but the "sweet spot" will just reflect light all over. In order to get a semi focused beam, they make the light bulb/reflector relationship just right. That's why you can't just swap any old bulb into different applications (or at least one of the reasons). Having said all that, you just might hit the jackpot and luck out.

...how'bout removing the 55w lo-beam and installing a 65w lo-beam so that when you turn on the hi-beam BOTH beams are 65w (as in left side 65w / right side 65w) instead of 55w/65w?? (or 85w low/ 85w hi ...or 100w lo / 100w hi?)

With a light there's a .
(hot/ground) wire. In this case there are three wires You will need two three wire plugs. You can get them from your salvage yard from any bike that has dual lights or a single light bike(need two of them). There are three prongs on the bulb (1)is for the high beam. (1) is for full time running. (1) is the ground(blk/yellow). The high beam light has a red/white. The low beam has a yello/white>(this could be reversied not sure the bike isn't in front of me)
The bike should have two relays. (1) for high beam and (1) for low beam. On your present system the light wires has two wires. One hot/ground wire for the low beam, and one hot/ground for the high beam.
You will have to run jumpers from the high beam side to both high beam three prong plug.
You will have to run jumper from the low beam side to both low beam three prong plug.
I suggest doing the low beam side first. If this works, the high beam will work.
I haven't tested this,but I am 95% sure this will work.
You may have to change your fuse to ensure current voltage is present.
