Seen the newest 10 reviews? Stopped by the Barnes & Noble in Spokane today, saw the newest four-bike one-liter shootout in two differnent mags, Sport Rider and Motor Cyclist I believe.
The 10 was the clear winner in both shootouts. The R1 was second in both.
Dang that CBR, when wet weights are compared on all the bikes, is 33lbs more than the 10 and makes a less hp.
My favorite comment was when they said the 10 makes the 636 into a sport tourer.

Who cares about reviews after getting 10R?

Interesting that the Sport Rider setup guide recommends 5.5 turns out on the rebound for the rear shock - neither of the rear shock adjustments turn out that much.

Road Racing World loved the 10R (except for the tach), but picked the R1 as the best liter bike for '04.

I think all the liter bikes are awesome. Just a shame most of us have to pick just one.... Hell, if I had the money, I would have a series of bikes ranging from 250 and up....

But honestly, other than on the track, you really don't notice the Honda heft that much. It's not night and day. Look at the 12, it can be hussled around a 6 with the right rider, and it weighs what, 150-175 lbs more?

Every corner I take makes me glad I went from a 'heavyweight' to a 'lightweight'. So much less work, so much more fun...

Stop the Madness!! For me personally, all this comparo stuff drives me crazy! All the bikes are pretty close--close enough that there will be no "clear winner"--it's all about rider preference, any bike could win on any day.... I actually wish they would start bashing the 10R in the mags so it won't be the R1 of a few years ago and the G1K of the last 2 years...you know where everyone has one!
For me, I love this damn bike--the most awesome bike I have ever ridden, of course I have only owned a ZX6E, ZX7R and ZX6R (636)--not much to go by...but as you can tell I'm a Kawi guy all the way! The main thing I am happy about is just that Kawasaki actually came out with the bike.... Now Kawi is mentioned up there with the best of them....that we actually have a bike to cheer for in the races, I wish we had #32 on one in SBK this year but oh well--his loss! (damn Eric!) I love watching the superstock races this year (except that Greed Tv didn't show the last one live) Hopefully by next year all the kinks and rules will be worked out and we will be back in AMA SBK (screw the Ducati Cup!) Anyways, my point is--yeah we are all excited and I do read the reviews and but while it does give me excitement to say "I own that bike"....it's not the end of the world if it doesn't come in #1 in another person(s) opinion---as long as it comes in #1 in my opinion! Just the fact that Kawi has finally stepped to the plate and upped the ante is cool with me!
It just irks me to see all the R1vs10rvsBusavs12R..etc... and then the HP number bashing/praising.... not so much the discussion but the fact that people base everything on the discussion.... In the end it all comes down to the rider--found that out first hand on my first track session a couple of months ago (on my 636) when some instructors kid came flying by me and other riders on bigger bikes with his little motard 250 or something...the kid was screaming!!! but don't worry I caught him on the straight!
Sorry for the rant don't even know if it's on topic....but just had to let that one out!!

I'm a die-hard Kawasaki fan...but that R1 sho' iz purty...and at my skill level either one of these bikes would be more than satisfactory for me...'cept the R1 has a superior gage array and could tilt me that way (hint)...even the magazines have bad thigs to say about Kawasaki's silly gage...maybe the '05 or '06 will have proper analog tach and digi speedo (hint hint) ____________ “We sleep safe in our beds because rough men

Yeah, I've hustled around 600's on my 12 before, but man. She makes ya work for it. Compared to a 600 you have to be careful with line choice - while you can correct if you wish, she's a handfull (again, compared to a 600).
I always had a very hefty (no pun intended) respect for the 12 hustling about. But when I got on my 600 I tossed it around like a cheap dirtbike.
I imagine hustling on a 10 is quite fun!
And as for the Honda - I haven't had the pleasure of riding it as you have. It's a good bike for sure - and would prolly scare the shit out of me. I'd like to ride one, but not own one.
