Download kz2zx 's Gearing Calculator for the 10R here VERSION 2.0
Wow.. we have some very talented people on this site... kz2zx has been working on a gearing calculator for the ZX-10R to help you determine rpm & speed using different gear and tire combos. This current verion is based in Excel and it's pretty damn cool... We'll see what the next version brings but for now right click and save as the link below to download version 1.0 of his gearing calculator....

The only numbers that are correct in this version are the Zx-10R with D218 tire - I will fix that asap...
If you have the numbers for #of teeth or ratio for your bike for the gearing (it should be in the owner's manual), post them here, and I'll add them to the database.
The numbers I need are:
Primary input and output # of teeth or ratio
Final (countersprocket/sprocket) # of teeth or ratio
Each gear (1-6) input/output # of teeth or ratio.
If you give me ratios, I need them to 4 places after the decimal point.
Also, if you can give me the stock or current tire and it's diameter, that will help build up the database. If you don't know the diameter, then the circumference (wet a patch on the tread, roll the bike forward, measure the distances between the patches left on the ground - front edge to front edge).

That is awesome. It seems there is a little disagreence on rather the stock gearing on the 10R is good, or to tall in first. I'm probably going to make mine more of a middle ground so that it's more user friendly for all enviorments.

So correct me if I'm wrong. With stock gearing, at 13000 rpm the 10r should pull 202 mph. How does aerodynamics and weight play into all this??

Not well. It stops pulling at around 184, say the mags - but they're not telling if there is a rev limiter/speed limiter, nor if there is more speed to be had with different gearing.
Sportrider says the Suzuki and Honda are speed limited to 180 and 175 MPH (have to check the article to be sure, but I have to run to work... will edit this later if needed).

Hey kz2zx...I am just asking before I do this...but I was looking at the downloaded Excel program, and do you care if I take your code out of it and throw it up in VB.NET and make a standalone application so Excel isnt needed? Plus I can port it into PDA format as well cause I think it would be nifty to have on your Palm Pilot.
Just thought I'd ask permission first.

Beans, I'm a helpfile away from a VB version that uses an .mdb database - email me and I'll give you the version w/o the helpfile (or wait a day).
After I got that one down, I was going to add a ODBC switch that would let it be served by a webserver.
I'll share the code happily; the version I'm finishing up is a bit neater code-wise (VBA makes you do some weirder things).

I like the mdb idea, and adding the ODBC wont be that hard at all. Once you get the help file done, I'll take a gander of course haha...I really want to port it to PDA and VB.NET lets you do that fairly easy, minus some formatting issues...dont use the email address in my profile cause I dont know how big the file(s) are so send it to daniel@randomcomputers.com and I have unlimited space there...thanks man...I'll let you see what I did before I post anything up and I'll make sure you still get all the credit for the code of course...

I'll even import it into .net, then - I had been using vb6, since it's on my work computer. I've got to add some bitmaps, icons, and re-do the help since the (*&#ing freeware compiler I used added 'this is freeware' banners...
I'll send what I have tonight, when I get off the big silver bird.

I gave it up for lent. Actually, Beans wanted to port it to Windows CE for the Palm.
I am a gnat's hair from completion, but need some motivation to finish it.

I do that with projects in Access. I get started then lose the motivation to finish.Until I need to use it ! 2.0 works fine just was wondering about 3.0...........Now get in there and get busy !!!

On the spreadsheet version, find, along the bottom left edge, a tab marked 'calc'. Click on it, and look for a column marked 'Tires Supported'.
There's a break in the column - the program will search for that break as the end of the list it offers on the 'ActiveXUI' tab controls.
Add your tire to that list before the gap in the column - the name and the rolling circumference. That's it. Switch back to the ActiveXUI tab, and it should be there. If not, save the sheet, close and reopen the saved version. That should definitely do it.

I am hyper-busy at work, and have a bike to raceprep (see this thread
I ain't gonna finish this in a while. The VB6 version works well, but the .NET one that Beans asked me for won't be done in a while.
Anyone want to use the VB6 version - it won't work on handhelds like Palm - or someone want to finish my .NET port?
