I bet that. . . .

There isn't 1% of the 10R street riding owners here that will ever ride the bike to its true limits.

What about the street riding owners who go to trackdays?

Or, in three years get a new streetbike and turn this one into their clubracing bitch?

i would have to think the VAST majority of track riders dont even use the full potential. hell, even when u look at the top pro series, uv always got the top runners WAY out in front of the backmarkers, even in the stock bike series.

hmm.. thought there were a couple true stock bike series, but i could be mistaken. i assume they are blueprinted in any case. but still, i'll bet u take a frontrunner and a backmarker and have them switch bikes, the frontrunner will still put the backmarker to shame (tho not by quite as wide a margin).

I bet that many people that dragrace would not agree with you. I dont think you will push the 10 to limit on turns on the street(rocks road hazards etc) but I think that most of the riders on this board will open the 10 up for all its worth on top end and accel. I just had a GSXR 1000 and it was very fast but still left me wanting more. I bet the 10 leaves me and others wanting more also. Now if I could get the miles on this thing faster. If people spend more time riding than cleaning and posing on a bike. They will enjoy every bit of its performance. My .02

For the most part, it's not about taking the bike to it's limits. It's what the tires will take, that limits almost all the new open classers. The better question is who can best use the combination of both a great bike and a great set of tires, under perfect track conditions. Because on the street, you'd be hard pressed to take a 600 to it's limits.

I'm sure there will be many people testing certain true limits. Just depends on what aspect of the bike we're talking about. Top end, corning, braking, 1/4 mile times, etc. I would agree that the bike, as purposely designed for, will have a limited number of riders taking it to it's limits. But that makes it even more fun to own!

I don't think I will ever get my ZX10 close to its true limits on the street. But I don't think it is a good idea to get any bike close to it's limits on the street. But I also doubt that I will ever get it close to it's limits on the track either. BUT the ZX10 has already allowed me to safely exceed what I thought were my limits on the track and that is what is important to me. I went 4 seconds a lap faster than I ever went before at TWS with the 10 and I never felt I was pushing. I was just trying to get used to the bike. I was still adjusting the suspension settings when the day was over.

1%'s - Ben, Nicky, Eric, Matt. . . and I don't think any of them are on this board.

I am a slow old fart and know it, don't make any pretentions about being fast or ever being fast. I am a 1%er, only at the far other end of the scale!

...there is a relation between the amount of road you'll use on the streets and the amount of room on your motorcycle endorsed driver's license (for those of you that care to have one) and how you will ride any of your angry wheeled horses on said public roads...as such, could you ever approach your and the bike's ultimate 'racer' potential on the streets?....and do you really need to with all the known and unknown variables sharing your space and willing to maim or kill you at a moment's notice?...ok, the potential to be the most competent street rider on a well equiped bike is desirable if you use your head...ride safe, ride smart is all I can say.....

...or do what I do: take an off-road bike, safety-gear up, and slip and slide the 5~15mph technical trails, 15~40mph sand washes and fire roads, and 40~75mph desert floor (about as fast as my balls will let me go off-road and still feel as though I've accomplished something)....a day or two of that makes 75~85mph knee-draggin sweepers seem not all that important to me on the street (though still beautiful to behold and even to do if I knew how when its safe to do so...not to be confused with if its legal to do so )...and not worry about my license and the dangerous street variables....don't misunderstand: I very much enjoy street riding, but I detest the street knucklehead who enters my lane from the opposite direction or passes me on the outside on a blind curve (or inside for that matter!)...fast, slow, excitement, and potential are relative terms...

ride safe guys and gals...ride to ride another day

I would encourage ZX-10R should be more about coming home to your family in one piece and also not destroying a great bike with the hassles accociated.

Having fun should be tempered with intelligence so I should know my limits. Respect for others and self is required. I love acceleration but am smart enough to take small calculated risks versus big out of control ones. You can get far with small incremental steps at a time.

Not really BS in case you wonder. Just a few rational thoughts.

Have fun!

Im still debating using this bike at the track just for the fact of pushing this bikes envelope and sending it down the blacktop. I feel I can get alot out of a bike on the track but when you do remember one thing, sooner or later NO MATTER HOW GOOD OR BAD YOU ARE pushing the bike that hard bad things WILL HAPPEN sooner or later. If its your street bike you dont want to risk that most likely. First thing you learn in road racing, its not if you crash its when. Think I might keep this bike for dragstrip and backroad thrashing and a occasional track day. Use my other track bike for now.

crazyman1, there are things that are beyond our control in all facets of life. I have an '98 R1 sitting in my garage that is less valuable than the blue ZX10 sitting next to it. When I had a chance to go to a track day, I took the ZX10. When you put any bike on the track (or street) you do have to accept or acknowledge that you could come home with a damaged bike. I try not to live in fear of what could happen, but enjoy the moment. And what a grand moment it was. But I also know there are a lot of people who will never take that step to go to the track in the first place and I respect them for the choices they make.
