Parts Counter Encounter
So I go to the local Kawi dealer - no names - and the (50-something)lady behind the counter is on the phone.
I get a kid parts clerk, and we get our stuff together - the right oil filter, and 4 quarts of Kawachem 20W-50. Determine the dealer has no 10R cowls in stock.
I give the kid the store-credit slip ($52 on it, left over from my $100 deposit on the 10R which had been overlooked when the paper was filled out. Why it was issued back as store credit instead of cash is an interesting question). He goes and gets the partslady.
She says I have to use the remaining credit right then. Now, this was unexpected - and I ask why. Her answer is it's too much paperwork for her.
Blink.
Ok, she suggests buying chain lube and a wax/cleaner. I tell her I bought that when I bought the bike (I have a full can of PJ-1 left over from the last bike). She then says buy a duplicate set of 4 more quarts of oil and another oil filter. I point to my (now full) backpack and ask her how I would carry that home?
She has an answer: leave it here on layaway. Now tell me how this is less paper?
So tell me if I should be angry or amused at this petty woman. I don't ever need to visit this dealer again, even for a new bike or warranty service, there are others in town. OTOH, this one is close, and I like the individuals working there (not this parts lady). She wasn't going to give me a dime in cash back for the remaining store credit; but the irritation she displayed actually had me amused.
I did do it her way - I ended up forking over $11.31, while mentioning I had not intended to spend money today. She is mad because she has to make change. I think I felt really bad for the kid behind the counter.
Could she just have been carrying out the policy of not letting a dollar leave the store once it was in the store?
Or was she just a bitter woman unhappy with her lot in life, exercising a small bit of control over the world that made her so unhappy? Or do you think it was me in damn near $1000 in new gear that she damn well knows wasn't bought at her shop, with a new ZX-10R, that the dealer isn't getting the 600 mile oilchange on?
Should I ever go back (after I pick up the other oil and filter tomorrow)?

I would definitly discuss this issue with the manager, and then
determine if they will recieve your future business.
they are there to serve you, not the other way around!

sounds pretty lame. i can understand it may be a bit of hastle to do the paperwork, but it was their mistake for overlooking the deposit in the first place and not returning it cash. u might want to consider writing a complaint to them jsut saying it was an example of lousy customer service. wouldnt get too riled up over it if it was an isolated incident but worth reminding them they can't pull shit like that.

Seems like she has the customer/salesman relationship all mixed up.
I would let the manager know about it, they're not the only dealer on Earth and they should be reminded of that.
You forked over $11,000 to them and they ought to be keeping you happy, its their job.

20W50 ??????
Why??
maybe you should go back and exchange it for some 10W40...do you think that would upset her??
You should be running 10W40 in your ZX10.....just a little FYI.....but thats up to you.

XL, they offer 20W-50 or they offer Synth, and it IS Arizona....
Guam, yes, it's on Country Club, a little further north than most, kinda across the street from a Major Harley Dealer.
Turbo, you should just let go and be yourself. Don't hold back...
I may send my wife to go bit - uh, TALK - to the manager.
