opinions needed.....
Today I took my wife for a 70 mile ride. Needless to say the 10r is not made for passengers. She says she now wants her own bike which is great. She has ridden a little many years ago but has never had a license. The problem is that she is only 5'3" tall. She would rather have a standard or custom even though she loves the look of the orange 636, but where do you turn for such a short person? Any opinions or ideas? Help - thanks in advance guys (and gals).

The SV650 and S version both have relatively short seat heights and a number of otions available from the aftermardet to lower them even more.
Around my neck of the woods, it is the favorite for ladies that are on the petite side.
By the way, they are an awesome track tool too, but you dont have to let her know that.

My friend has an SV650 and is 5'2" and she had the seat sculpted out and an extra piece of sole put on her boots and she is quite comfortable now...it's nice to see more lady bikers on the road like myself...Good Luck

Get her an enduro... like a DR or Super Sherpa.

SV650 with the stock shock links from a Hayabusa will lower it an inch (and correspondingly the SV links will raise the Busa an inch).

SV 650 is a good choice not only for seat height, but twin powerband. Another option might be the Honda 599, which has a lower stock seat height than the SV.
In concept an enduro is a great first bike, but not when you know the rider is 5'2", then the enduro becomes one of the worst choices. The DR400 has something like a 35" seat height, not ideal for someone with around a 28" inseam.
