I just picked up my new black zx10 on saturday. Rode it at the dealer, went to take it off the trailer at home and the FI light is flashing. Dealer says it is a short in the FI module and ordered me a new one. Rode it 2 miles and now the fuel pump won't engage. Maybe I should have kept my 929. I hope this isn't any indication of how the summer is gonna be.

Marsh14 - is your bike europe model? I saw one over here and it's FI light does blink every few seconds. But the key was out and this is due to some security.
If US model, let them fix it and know that it's a fluke. As for the fuel pump not engaging. Wait, bet that's your real fluke and the reason your FI light is blinking. Buddy, I can not believe one bike could have 2 problems out of the crate! It's a fluke, shit happens and yours is the first. Let Kaw fix it and know it'll surely be the last time your baby see's the dealership with any problem. Don't worry bout it, it'll be right in-a-few and you'll love it!

It does blink with the key out but it isn't a euro model and when you turn off the kill switch on the handlebar it goes out. Turn on the key and no fuel pump whine.

I don't understand why the bike isn't at the dealer's, so they can diagnose the problem. And I don't understand why they haven't insisted on this. I'd be very concerned with just how serious the dealership is treating this.

When I turn the kill switch on with the key off, you can here something humming under the tank. Flick the kill switch off and it stops. If I have the kill off, turn the key on and then the kill, it will fire the fuel pump and start, but that is the only way to start it.

I agree with iculukn, I'll bet the initial problem was the fuel pump. I would switch dealers if they are trying to diagnose and order parts for problems over the phone.

I called the dealer that I bought it from which is about 3 hours away. There is a dealer here in town, but I haven't talked to them yet. They are kind of dinks about working on stuff not bought at their shop. My dealer was going to talk to them about sending the part to them to fix my bike.

The dealer says I can still ride it until the part comes in. Went to get on it and the battery was dead. Whatever is going on is drawing down the battery. Got it going and rode it 50 miles. All of my doubts about switching brands are gone. This thing is amazing. My 929 feels like a tank compared to this. Now, I can't wait until the part comes in so I can leave my bike in the garage with the battery hooked up and not have to take it apart every time I ride it.

My call to the dealer yesterday was a good one as he informed me it was to arrive yesterday and then he would call me back and handle logistics and paperwork items before delivering it to me (1.5hrs away) today........well i didn't get the return call before leaving for work so hopefully i'll hear something today.
