To Buy or To Keep
Went down to my local dealer today and looked at one them Green killer machines. They only had one 10r left. They looked at my 00 zx12r and made me an offer. When it was all said and done The deal came down to , My Bike and $6800.00. So now i wont get any sleep until i decide. You tell me, Is it worth an addition $6800.00. My bike only has 4000 miles on it and is paid for. I am sure many on you had the same dilema.

Get the new bike under Kaws current promotion with the low payment for 18 months. That will give you plenty of time to sell your bike this riding season as well as into next if need be. Dont give it away unless it does not sell in the next year or so. Just my .02 cents.
Good Luck

Ya, it sounds like they are offering:
11000 (retail)
-6800 (purchase price)
4200 for your bike all taxes included.
I just sold my 6R for 4600 (2000).
I would hold out for more money selling it privately on cycletrader.com

You would be getting hosed.
Some dealers already coming off MSRP.
Mine was $ 1000 under sticker, so was $ 10,900 OTD, even with high Cali tax and lic.

You should get about 5-6K for your 12R.. I dont see how people are getting 4200 out of the equation for yer bike... I am pretty tired and my math isnt all that good right now.. But the deal looks to me like he's getting about 5K for his 12R and that seems to be bang on...
Anyways...
... If you look at the ones that have sold (12R's ) , esp on this site, you will see that 12R's are going privately for 5-7k .. (all in USD) .. .the ones between 6- 7 k all have thousnds of dollars in mods to them.. 1270 kits etc etc etc... I had the same dilema... you could prolly squeeze the dealer a bit more, but I think you'd be hard pressed to do more than $700 better on that deal..
that's just my opinion.
Ask the like of swft and others who have ditched their 12Rs and see what they got for them... your numbers shake out close to what I got... I did better but not by much... depends on your relationship with the dealer.

zzzzzxxxxxr12> You never said what you were paying for the 10r... With that information it would better to gage the damage of the deal, well transaction should you decide to proceed. I too had a similar situation, I even had to let the opportunity pass because the dealer at Ultiamte Cycles in Richmond had been smoking crack just before he called me to pick up the 10r I had ordered back in August. Anyway, he asked too much, I wasn't trading my '00 12r as part of the process. I told him to sell the bike to someone that would pay him what he wanted and I'd be out to collect my deposit. I found my week old 10r at Ray's Suz Kaw in SC for $10,270 including tax. Needless to say, I still have my 12r in my garage. It's not worth the beating you're going to take trying to sell it and the offers you'll get are insulting at best. No, I don't need more than one bike, no I can't ride more than one at a time and yes the taxes here in VA suck, insurance is not bad and maintenance is more than for one bike. But, I can ride when one is down for maintenance and have the 12r for longer trips and two up riding and I can put the 9rr on for a track day if I want to. So, go with your own thoughts but, take your time doing it. No regrets man.
Peace,
JB

Thanks all for the input. I did not put the price for the 10r up because to me its always a starting point when dealing with dealers. But the bike was at MSRP 10,999 plus all the add on costs of coarse. So i just wanted to know from them what i would need to write the check for plus my bike. They first came back at me for $8200.00. LOL, dont blame em for trying. But to be honest even the salesman told me i would be better off buying in 6mos when they would be willing to come off MSRP.
I think i will go ahead and keep my A-1( it eats so little) and plan to purchase outright a green meany 10r.
