1/4 mile times within:

A somewhat confusing and inconclusive night at the dragstrip netted the following:

10.47 @ 142.1 Right lane
10.40 @ 148.2 Right lane
10.50 @ 144.1 Right lane
10.43 @ 138.9 Left lane
10.50 @ 138.2 Left lane
10.43 @ 148.3 Right lane

All 1/8 mile mph were between 111.0 and 112.5 mph.

Speeds sound a little screwy, so I don't know what to believe.

Mike

The bike was totally stock - haven't even checked the tire pressure yet.

It was around 65 degrees and traction was not an issue.

I was really just going to see mph, which was all over the place.

So, which one is correct? 138 or 148 mph???

Since ET's are fairly consistant , the 138 to 142 mph range more likely.

I may be running mine today or next week.

What was altitude of track ?

Head wind or tail wind ?

Short times ?

Just a few examples:

60' 1.935
330' 4.761
1/8 6.958
mph 111.91
1/4 10.465
mph 142.06

60' 1.807
330' 4.650
1/8 6.871
mph 110.98
1/4 10.403
mph 148.15

60' 1.866
330' 4.725
1/8 6.924
mph 112.07
1/4 10.432
mph 138.88

No appreciable wind. Track elevation is around 40 ft.

Anybody volunteer to upload a cool drag launch picture?

Mike

Those 60' times could use some life support. And no, I am not a drag racer, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I don't think the 60' is hurting it as bad as the first 1/8 mile.

Keep in mind that you spend the first 300 ft. trying to slip the clutch to keep the engine in its power range. Then, you spend the next 300 ft. feathering the throttle to keep the front end down. You can't simply twist the throttle fully open until half track.

Lower it and gear it and that's a whole 'nuther story. . .

3rd gear or 4th gear

Were going through the lights in 3rd gear or 4th? Shift points change?

Would be 3rd gear if wound up tight, or 4th gear if shifting at lower rpm's. Tall 1st gear, and very close ratio tranny.

Mid 4th.

According to this:

http://www.rumour.com/bike2/Album/Magazine%20Articles/PB%20Mar%202004/04litretest3.gif

3rd is only good to 140 mph on the rev limiter.
