Observed mileage? Ok, so I got 135 miles on the odo when the yellow fuel light came on. I knew there was a gas station 15 miles up the road, so waited till I got to it, for a total of 150 miles on the odo. Filled it up, 3.6 gallons? That's what, over 40 mpg? (US). If so, I'm very happy with the mileage. Mind you, this is during breakin, so wasn't exactly cranking on it...

I got 144 miles of sub 4000 rpm riding before the fuel lamp came on. I was showing 147 when I got to the station and it took 3.3 gallons. That does not leave a whole lot of gas once the light comes on. I think the fuel capacity is only 3.7 gallons. That fill-up was right at 500 miles on the odo so the fuel mileage will probably drop on the next tank.

wow! this would be a treat after my lincoln-continental-esque zx-12r that got about 5 mpg... I think even my durango RT does better mileage than the 12R! My worst tank was 50 miles!

Yah, thought it was 4.5...WFO, when does your fuel light come on? Others seem to see the light at about 145 or so. Sounds like there's basically a gallon in the tank when the light comes on.

I've got a Cali model, and I don't know if this is true of all models or not - mine's got a device in the tank cap assy that looks sort of like a well, and they tell me not to fill it up past the bottom of the well as it will cause emissions systems (evap can) problems and rough running.

the motorcycleusa review reported 39.something mpg.
as to tank capacity, i know i was never able to fill my 12's tank to what the spec sheets claimed, even after arriving at the gas station having already stalled twice and not having enough gas to start er up again.was a liter or 3 shy of what the specs said.

Yea, that's what I get for reading some dumb magazine. They said the tank was 3.7 gallons. Wrong... It is 4.5 gallons according to the manual. Now that I have 2000 extra rpm to play with my mileage went down a little (?). Today I went 114 miles on 3.1 gallons. I wonder what it will be when all of them ponies are prodded to life.

That's good, I was sweating it when the light came on. Nice to know you have an easy 30 miles to go...
BUT!!! Is there any way to get the tripmeter to come back up on the display, so you know how far you got to go?
