Dealer claim Canadian 10R's sold out?
Dont know how true this is or not, but my local dealer (sheesh.. sounds like he's sellin drugs er what?? ) says that Canada is into round two and entering round 3 ... They say that at this point they cant get a hold of anyone from KMC Canada and that it appears as though the bike is sold out for the year. All of the bikes they have coming in to the dealership are presold and none of the bikes they have already received are left... Then there's the WAITING LIST... a page long ... They have stores from Ontario (that's the other side of the continent for those of you geographically challenged) and elsewhere contacting THEM for product.
I asked Brian to write a post about this as we had a very interesting conversation about the current "situation", but as it appears he is "internet shy" (even though he is one of our sponsors ) I will start the topic for him...
I asked him just how many times has this happened to him in his many many years of being a Kawasaki dealer. How many times in the past has there been so much excitement and demand for KMC's product.
He said he can only remember it happening twice. Once in 1981 for the GPZ750, and again in 1989 for the (cant remember which exactly) ZX7 or was it ZX9 ..
so there.

In 1989, that would've been the ZX-7 that caused the huge hysteria. It was the first of the model. All green, with a small amount of blue and white as trim, metal air snorkels feeding from the upper, etc. It screamed "racebike" like nothing else.
The ZX-9 wasn't even a thought back then.

So I guess you'll be coming down this way again to pick one up.... At least it's in the 90 degree range now, so the roads will be nice and warm this time!

Cowboy.. I called MapleRidge... they have no idea who I am... they basically told me to "pound sand" and had absolutely no interest in taking my 12 in on trade.
Too bad... I thought perhpas we might do business, but it looks as though not.... they blew it in my books!

Fish,You should of told me first so i could hook you up.You know dealers don't like to do business on the phone.Too many dreamers and other dealers just checking prices.
I know you would take a killing on your 12(like $7000 tops).
Thats just business though.Maybe your buddy at Burnaby will give you more for your trade but they don't have the bike you want.
Why would the sales guy at MRMS know who you are?

Fish... you can always come down to sunny FL and pay full retail. A few dealers have them on showroom floors. You could leave your silver 12 here for $4300... Ill even put you and the Princess up for the night.

I am up to six bikes because I just bought the 04R1. I am still first at the same dealer (kaw-yam-ktm) for a black 10r.
I HATE the thought of selling ANYTHING to get the 10r, but I hate even more NOT getting a 10r. Maybe it's good that he did not get his one and only 0410r, as of now (he said)
Can you keep your 12r for the long distance rides and make the 10r the 'bad boy' bike?
I am just helping you spend yer $$$$$$$$

I have 5 bikes right now.... remember now.. I have personally tested the 10R... in comparison I have to say... bye bye 12R.... That should answer your question.

Me, I've got a pretty black ZZR 1200 that is ten times the highway bike a 12R could ever be. 45mpg, plenty fast for the street, and comfortable enough to ride from Laguna Seca to Seattle in a day. Can't ask for much more out of the mile muncher. So if I've got a prime street/commuter bike, no reason for keeping a 12.

nope.. .I've answered yer question. I'm sure you've read my review. I'm making the logical choice. The 12R that weighs 100+ lbs less... that'd be the 10R.
