ZX10R.NET - Whoops!

Saw this today: The site you are attempting to reach has exceeded it's bandwidth quota. Please try connecting again later.

It's a good site, but looks like it got a lil too popular for it's own good!

hmm... i cant bring up the site at all. weird. didnt seem like they were doin all that much traffic, so i cant imagine how they would have exceeded their quota, unless they're using one of those super cheap $7 a month type hosting deals. wouldnt touch those kinda deals for anything of production quality. the only way they can get that cheap is by, well, being cheap! cheap machines, no backup, cheap bandwidth (read: high lag). ferget that.

Hey, how we doing for storage on this site? I've been authorized by my boss to provide a free Network Appliance filer if you want one...Older model of course, but would provide the board with many gigabytes of storage that is fast, RAID 4 and reliable.

u are one helluva generous SOB swft! i dont know that we can use it at this point tho. the entire bikeland DB (in native format, not a dump) is only 80MB. text dont take up much room! that and we'd have to pay for the additional rack space. what we could possibly do with it is rent it out to the host who may need it for backup services, tho i think he bought a couple big honkin backup machines less than a year ago so i dont think so. but i dont know that the idea of rentingit out would really be in keeping with the spirit of the offer anyway.

Geez, I don't know if we'd even know how to use it, but if your GIVING it away, I might be interested.

Hey Sherm -

How big of storage you need, and how fast do you need? Honestly, if you don't have 2000 users, or are running six instances of a SQL or Oracle DB, it's kinda like swatting a fly with a Buick. Just ask Jon bout enterprise class storage. Our employers are competitors in some market verticals, but I think he would agree that even what we term 'workgroup storage' would prolly be beyond your needs. Hell, the power bill alone would prolly pay for the cost of your typical big ATA drive over a year's period. Here at my crib, I tend to favor the firewire ATA drives, which are easy to hook up or move, fast as stink for what I need, and dirt cheap.

And gives me the boot! Well thanks for your support guys. And sorry it didnt work out to have it incorporated into here for you all to use as well!

[mystical revealing]Tadaa[/mystical revealing]

Mike that was me ya hooked together with Nick. I do appreciate it. I want to keep you & Nick in your current roles over there going forward.

I think the site was running fine, I am just looking to be the bankroll for the time being. Ill become more active as time goes on. I also want things to be stable (part of why I dont really want to change things).

The only big change will be moving the hosting in a few days. Other than that the site will stay mostly the same.

If only buying the ZX-10R from the dealer could be as easy as swapping ownership of the site.

So far I have a ZX-10R seat that I had shaved down & the domain. Now all I need is the bike.
