Daytona 200
What was Yates thinking? It's one thing to be competitive - another thing entirely to clip a backmarker. And then to be such a *expletive deleted*.
Bad Bostrom Luck in this race, too. What was the pit crew error - a reversed rotor? What happened to Eric?

The Ducati team manager said they took a rock in the oil cooler. The same thing happened during testing also.
I admire Yates as a rider but that S**t is unacceptable. It is the responsibility of the overtaking rider to make a clean pass. Obviously Yates did not do that. Then his reaction was over the top. If the AMA has any balls, he should be inline for a stiff fine and a suspension. It has been reported elsewhere that the other rider filed assault charges and police were summoned.

No excuse for " Rock in the Cooler" As if they don't concern themsefves for that! "That was a catatrophic engine failure to me!" Smoke when backing off is not from an oil cooler prob! Prolly a valve problem or?? Anyone care to argue?

Unlike street bikes which have massive gaps and holes in the bottom of the fairings, Superbike fairings are required to "contain fluids" so that they will cut down on the amount of fluids that wind up on the track. Smoke was visable during acceleration and deceleration which could have been due to oil sloshing around in the fairing and getting on the exhaust. The front exhaust pipe is at the front bottom of the fairing. I know every team wants to put a positive spin on a DNF, but the bike was still pulling hard, in spite of the smoke. Oil was obviously no longer controlled but it wasn't coming out of the exhaust. There was a hole somewhere. No big conspiracy here.

What confuses me is that any radiators are very vulnerable to "rocks" etc. if they protect them with special screens like Nascars that would not have put him outta the race. Oh well a lesson to be learned by everyone.

How many rocks are on that track and why are they only attracted to the Ducatis?

Luck. Or bad luck. Me and my riding partners all ride together and I have taken several nuclear powered rocks in the hands, knees, fairing and windshield. Another rider has had 2 radiator punctures. Another has had severe radiator damage but no holes. Just luck.
