I got to sit on a new R1. It is a nice looking bike. But I would like for someone to measure something for me. I have a '98 R1. When looking at the new R1, the back of the tank is obvously slimmer. Yamaha says the '04 is 3 inches narrower at the back of the frame. HOWEVER, where my knees fit the bike, it felt exactly like my '98 R1. Certainly not Ducati skinny. Of course, I do "ride the tank." Anyone have access to a new one and an old one to check? By the way, I did not like the split gas tank look, especially since it is two different colors. The seat is skinny at the front and I was concerned that it might be a little less comfortable on longer rides.

Honestly in my opinion when sitting on both the R1 and 10R the R1 was more comfortable. But that isn't the reason I'm going for a 10R. The new R6 was waaaaay more comfortable than my 636, especally in terms of rough suspension rides but it its not my daily driver and I can tough out long rides on it.
