UK Delivery Soon

Hi Guys

My first post, so be gentle!

My dealer came back to me yesterday stating the first 200 machines are due to dock in the UK on the 27th February 2004. From there they will be delivered to Kawasaki's Southampton distribution centre, then out to the dealers, probably for the 2nd or 3rd of March. PDI'd and delivered - picking mine up, I'm camping in the shop - for the weekend of the 6th.

That's it for now.

Stay shiny side up!

Hi johnnyboy

I'll ask tomorrow and see if something can be set up. How many?

I know what you're on about, I've got a 7R and the pictures of the turn signals I've seen on the US 10R - deja vu!

I ride a 900RR and a 12R, the turn signals on the 10R are the same thing as the US North American spec 10R. I can live with them, I just think the Euro spec signals look a lot better.

Right then guys

I've spoken with my contact, here's a summary of our conversation.

1. He has the parts microfiche for the 10R.
2. None of the parts are available from the European parts distribution centre as yet. He expects them to be available anytime between the 1st and 3rd weeks in March.
3. He will calculate the cost of Front/Rear turn signal sets and shipping, when the parts become available as that's when the prices will be set.
4. Their may be an additional cost to cover duty being paid at your end for overseas purchases.
5. He will talk to his K rep to see how many sets he could reasonably order at one time.

Anyone interested, please post here so I can can some idea of numbers.

I would be interested as well. Any idea on price at this point. Ideally, I would be interested in 10 pairs of front turn signals if that is possible.

spoke to my dealer today (Bristol Kawa Centre). He tells me that the boat is docking on 29 Feb, then taking 7 days to clear customs, and a further 10 days to reach the dealers.

he also says that his original allotment of 9 bikes has been reduced to only TWO!! Due to 20 bikes going to the UK racing teams.

I'm just praying that one of the two is green, cause that baby's mine......

Hi 10RGeezer

Thanks for the info, this really isn't what I wanted to hear. I'll be calling my dealer tomorrow and get some clarification on the matter as this is not good news, he's either bullshitting me or one of them has it wrong, hopefully 'yer man'.

Mine is in Greeeen too, I put my deposit down 2nd Jan.

I'll post back after he's called his K rep.

I'd prod him about the turn signals too.

Later and thanks again.

I hear ya Digga

i hope yer man is right on this, however, i trust my mans word as he's a good mate who i've known for 20 years. Though he did tell me last week that I could expect delivery on March 10.

I put my deposit down last October, and I'm glad I did cause I'm the first in line out of eight pre ordered.

BTW what's the issue with the turn signals ?? (apart from our yank friends getting ugly one's)

Hiya 10RGeezer

Just got off the phone to my dealer who is standing by what he said - almost - the delivery from docking is now 7-10 days. Although he will phone K today and find out exactly when, where and why.

The issue with the 9 down to 2 bikes is the same for all off the dealers. As K are only releasing 1000 units this year in the UK, each K dealer has an allocation of 9 bikes for the year - mine ordered all his in one go - this first shipment is split evenly between them all, that's why it's down to 2 or 3 units from the first shipment of 200. They've also been told that any dealer found to be discouting the bikes will have their dealer status removed - 'kin cheek.

The turn signal issue is just that, the poor guys over the pond have to put up with the 'standard' indicators, while the rest of the world, including Australia get the super slick 'n' stylish ones. I've asked my dealer to get pricing and shipping costs to these guys to help them out. Just think, I could retire on the back of the ZX10R indicators - lol.

I'll post back once I have got a response from him.

Yo Digga

Talking of discounted 10R's, I came across an ad by TAZ Motorcycle in the MCN today for 10r's at £8345 OTR. (not Kawa franchise)

So I call them up, and they tell me they are parallel imports from Holland, converted to full UK spec., with expected delivery to be late March early April.

So I'm thinking 700 quid saving??? Enough for a full Akrapovic pipe...though I'm a bit wary of going for an import due to warrantee issues and stuff.

BTW I hope your not intending to profiteer from your indicator export business...LOL

Hi 10RGeezer

Spoke to my man and the delivery date (at the dealers) is 8th March - give or take a day. From the first shipment only 25 units will be left over for the public, apparently they didn't ship 200 as originally expected, but the bulk of the first shipment is going to race teams etc.. The second shipment comes in approx 7/10 days later, then a 3rd shipment another 7/10 days later. By this third shipment, most orders should have been covered.

Looks to me as if there's going to be plently of upset people not getting their bike when expected, that'll be me if it doesn't arrive in green in the day!

Not sure about the TAZ bike bud, I personally wouldn't buy it for the sake of £700 and warranties and the like, many others would though, at least you know what you're getting with a UK version - The Full Monty! Are Dutch machines full power then, not like France with the 100bhp limit? Could you imagine that, buying a 10R restricted to 100bhp - 'kin sick. Do you know which other countries are restricted?

Turn Signals - no profit in it other than getting a beer or two from the dealer or the guys on here. Still no update on the parts yet - I'll keep you all posted.

Digga m8

I'm getting pissed with my dealer now - he says today that UK shops WON'T get any of the first shipment that are arriving now, as they are all going to race teams. He says the second shipment will arrive two weeks later, and these will go to Kawa main dealers........shit, I'm getting jarred off with this bollox now....

As for why TAZ are importing from Holland, its because Holland get the full power version, unlike France & Germany. Still, like you say I'd rather wait (shit) for an official UK bike for the sake of saving 700 knicker.

BTW I was only kidding about your export business m8
