I have the very first '98 R1 delivered to my friendly local Yamaha dealer. It was originally supposed to be out in December '97. Note the similarity. It kept getting pushed back. Similar again? I was just looking at the temporary buyers tag yesterday. The day it actually rolled out of the dealer was 4/20/98. Be patient, it will be worth it.

Question: Why are the 10's delayed here in the USA, even to the mags (motorcyclist says they won't be getting one until after Daytona sometime) but the mags in England and Germany already have there test bikes. Why is this? Extreme or anyone else who may have the answer, WHY????

I dont see how that's a delay... We've (www.zx10rzone.com) been saying March/April on this site since last August. Perhaps the editors of that magazine should be reading this site instead of their "other" sources.... The 10R appears to be right on schedule as far as we are concerned.

O.K. fish let's not call it a delay. Then the question is: Why are england and germany getting production models to test but the U.S. mags have to wait until after Daytona?

There are NO production models to test yet as I understand it.

Kawasaki announced today that the U.S. production ZX10's will land 2/24/04 and will be shipped immediately to dealers. The bikes should be available in early March.

Hopefully they live up to the claim, highest hp/wt ratio, wouldn't it suck to see the R1 take that title after Kaw made that claim?Maybe the delay is to somehow make sure the hp is there before they are shipped to dealers.I don't think anything could be changed on the zx10 at this point since they have already been produced and they ship in 3 weeks, what kaw has built is what dealers will get,and yamaha can shoot for.

Ah yes. Let the rumors continue to fly. It's not the tranny any longer. It's lack of power. Who knows? Who cares? Just like most other things. If the factory can't get it right, the aftermarket will have you covered!

You trying to start something between me & my buddies Doug & Rob? The best way I can answer that is; It's kinda like a race. We are competitors when we line up at the starting line. But after the race, we're buddies again. More than that, I've always been mutually cooperative with Doug. Just have a lot of respect for who they are and what they do.
Hell, we even cooperated in the old days when we both shared Doug Chandler! When we folded the Freddie Spencer/SuperTrapp racing team and Doug started riding for Muzzy/Kawasaki, he was able to get them to agree to let him ride a XR750 for us in Dirt Track still. He only rode a few selected races, but that shows you how two "competitors" can work together.
But I do have some projects I'm working on (on the side @ my son's fab shop/design facility), that will move us into more than just exhaust systems..... Stay tuned.
