ZX10R HorsePower Figures from MCN
I got this e-mail from MCN today. "If we allow 11% for driveline losses...this brings the 172.5 bhp figure down to 153.2 bhp, which is exactly what the ZX10R delivers at the rear wheel on a Dynojet 250i dynamometer- if the measurement has a Din correction factor. But mostly over here the dyno-blokes use EEC correction, a european figure, which roughly translates to 149.7bhp at the back wheel, which as it happenswe just got out of our test ZX10R."
Also from the same e-mail, "Yes the ZX10R makes a little more power at the top end because it revs out longer, although the GSX-R makes more down below all the way to 6-7000 rpm."
So there you have it. You heard it here first.

Appreciate the post but it seems chopped up, where did the 172.5 bhp number come from?
And if it was truly dynoed why would we ALLOW for anything as opposed to the rear wheel HP number translates to an 11% loss of power from the crank to the rear wheel.
Then you say IF it has a Din correction factor.....................
Don't get me wrong, but I never take anything a fact when there are allowances and IF's involved.

So..add a full exhaust, PCIIIR and trim some fat...Yep! It oughta do just fine.

I was trying to keep it short and simple. I asked if their was a difference in their bhp vs. ours. This is the reply: " Fear not, our bhp is exactlythe same as yours, but it depends what type of bhp is involved in the measurement, and where it is measured. Kawasaki claims the ZX10R makes 172.5bhp and it probably does at the second conrod (looking from the front). This would be their claimed 180-odd with ram-air involced. If we allow 11% for driveline losses- chain,bearings, clutch, etc.-this bring the 172.5bhp figure down to 153.2bhp, which is exactly what the ZX10R delivers at the rear wheel on a Dynojet 250i dynamometer-if the measurement has a Din correction factor. That is what I got straight from MCN today. What all that means I'm not sure but I expect the ZX10r to have hp #'s between 149.7 and 153.2 bhp. I'm sure these figures will be on MCN's website soon enough. Just remember you heard it here first.

Could be true. It's more power than I can handle anyways. But I don't think I'll really believe it until I see it published. If it is true, Freek you get props for being the best guesser.

I agree with Hitman & CDRacing, wait until we get one in our country and it gets dynoed and published. Again, all the players need to be dynoed on the same machine, back to back to back to back to be a true comparision
