ZX-10R Hi guys!
What steering damper are you going to install on your new ZX-10R?
What brand do you have now? Are you satisfied??

I really like the Scotts damper, but have to look at the 10R's triple tree to make sure it will work.

I emailed Scott's about the future and dampers for the 10R. They said they already have one in the works. I asked if it's a standard mount, or center. And he told me it would be a center mount. I asked how long until they hit stores, he said no later than april 1st.

Let me tell ya bout price...
I was racing my SV650 at Portland. Doing an endurance race. Went into turn three and the front end just went away. So bam, I'm down on my side. I push the bike away (more like push off the bike) and lean back to enjoy the ride. The bike hit the little curb and weent straight up in the air. I lost sight of it as I came sliding into the grass and gravel runoff. The bike comes down in front of me, perfectly upright, just going sideways at oh, forty miles an hour. The bike hit, and turned into a whirling dervish of destruction as it shed bodywork, clipons, rearsets and just about everything else it could. When I got the bike back to the shop I looked at the scotts damper. It had a couple gouges on the outside of the case, but seemed to be fine. When I tried to take the allen bolts securing it, I found that they were both bent about halfway down. The damper had taken a hit hard enough to bend both bolts and shift them over about half the diameter of the bolt, but didn't hurt the unit at all. A normal damper would have been wiped out. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Scotts damper was designed for the offroad market first, where bouncing off things is a fact of life. So the unit was built tough, and it'll prolly be the last thing you ever break. Buy one, never worry about replacing it.

Hmmmm....and I was leaning so strong toward getting a Muzzys dampener this summer until I read swft's testimony. Now I have to rethink things.

SWFT>
I have one of them there Scotts damper thingies on my 12R too, I really like the unit, I plan to make another purchase for my 10R when she comes in too. Can't beat the location, ease of setup while riding. I heard alot baout guys crying about having to drill the frame of their 12R to mount, but it was no big deal, measure twice, drill once. Did mine in my garage by myself, well I wasn't alone, my friend La Cervesa Mas Fina (Mr. Corona) was there to keep me company.
Like he said, it's not the price, it's what you get for what you pay.

I mean anything under an open classer is a tiddler.... SV650 is even less than a tiddler..... But no offense though. Whatever works for you is all good!

Heh, well I won't argue about it not being a monster...But it sure is fun. And good practice, as it's all about being smooth to get a good lap time. I sold it to a guy who weighs 70 lbs less than me. He was coming from a 600, and couldn't ever match my times on the bike because he wouldn't listen to me about being smooth on it. Tried to ride it like a 600.
