quote: is that honestly and truly stock except for pipe, gearing, and lowering? if so (or even if not) that's some phenomenal dragging.
Yes it's bone stock engine, pipe, lowered/strapped and -2 teeth on the front sprocket, that's it. Norman has since been 9.teens repeatedly in that condition. There is no doubt the 10R is hands-down quicker and faster than the 12 in all comparisons.

Anybody who wants to try their 10 agains my 12 at top speed, let me know. Come down to El Paso, bring a video camera and some friends with different 10, maps, exhaust etc. As long as the engines are stock, like mine, you can try to get a piece of the 12.That's the way to find out.

In 2001 a magazine in OZ did a make over on a silver ZX12R doing the exhaust PC head work dialed in the cams raised the comp and a few other small things using a well know motor guru that has built many title winning bikes in the past and the end result was a true 205 hp at the back wheel.
They did a full spread on the bike at Philip Island race track and had an ex World Superbike Champion rider do some laps to test it and for the photo shoot ( Robbie Phylis ) this was one quick bike in every respect.

fuckin POS non-logging in, crapass browser. Lost my reply!
Hey Boricua, is that a guaranteed 200mph on the speedo? Hell, I do that on the way to my friends house sometimes......
Certainly you're read that a stock motor'd 12R is not an "easy 200mph". 190 195 maybe, if you're small enough to tuck behind the screen. The other 5+mph is tougher to get in a standing start 1 mile.
Several guys here have done Maxton and can tell ya that...

I'm not a drag racer by any means what so ever. My 1st time at the strip I lined up with a ZX10 for several passes, he takes off before the light turns green and doesn't get a red light(???), I take off when the light is green and he's out in front of me by a bike or two. Everytime I run him down and beat him to the finish line. We were close in rider weight I was only 20-30 lbs lighter, I had a full Muzzy without PCIII and -1 front at the time, he had a full Acrapovic with PCIII gearing unknown. Also my 12 has stock height, length, no strap, no extensions, stock suspension and settings, 18,000 miles and smokes(blue/oil). His 10 had a strap on the front. My times were stuck in the 10.0-10.2 range with the front tire up through 1st gear and part of 2nd, trap speed was always between 143-145mph.
Dry weight figures are stupid, useless, manufacturer propaganda as you can't ride a bike dry, peak hp measured at the valvetrain with 200 mph wind jammed in the motor don't mean a damn, torque is very important, but we can't forget aerodynamics, gearing, center of gravity, tires, wet weight, hp and torque CURVE, wheelbase, actual ram air effect vs theoretical ram air effect, rider weight, rider ability, so many varibles to compare til you're blue in the face but in the end only one thing matters...
... the first one to the finish line. Just my opinion.
