10,999.00 OTD in CA We all know that buying anything in CA sucks ass. But I can't believe I found a fucking dealer here that has one for 10999.00 OTD. Thats only msrp. In CA they always add in all this extra bullshit, like that it cost 600 dollars to open the crate they came in, and to oil the chain it's another 400. 10999.00 and all the reviews I've read, I think im going to have to buy it. The cheapest R1 I could find in CA was 11,757.00. And all the shit I'd have added to the R1, like a slipper clutch, and brembo brakes, this 10R already comes with it. DAMN! sorry, got a little excited....

Yeah, me too, I put the deposit down back in August. I'll be negotiating down from the original MSRP though, things are a little different here in VA.

JB, if you put a deposit down in Aug., you dealer had paperwork he could have filled out to lock in the price before the increase. It had to be turned in to KMC before 1/1/04.
IMHO, it doesn't matter if he turned it in or not, you should get the pre-increase price.

The guy from Ultimate Cycles called me during the Christmas break about this and that is why I made the post. I still haven't had a chance to call him to see if the seat cowling is part of the bike delivery or an accessory.

Guys, I gotta spill some beans here and now...Bike makers provide dealers with assembly and prep money AND some shipping costs. It's not alot but should cover most of it. Anyone charging for this is padding the deal.I figure most of you knew that but I had to say it for those who don't.

I'm not talkin' about the 2 or3% holdback , This is actual shipping and prep money. These bikes are almost always nearly assembled and the low man on the pole uncrates them ,puts gas in them, fills out a check list, washes off the cosmaline and rides it, for a payment of about $40. The shipping is usually around the same. If the bike came in with several others ,actual shipping may only be about $40 or $50.

I worked at a honda dealer for a few years and I can assure you the work required to finish these bikes doesnt cost us anywhere near 400/500 they try to ass rape you guys with. It's just more profit. And certain bikes they can get away with it. Oiling the changes, testing the valvue positions, and making sure the oil level is correct isnt that hard. Hell, people who werent even techs at my dealership did a lot of the shipment check work.
That new R1 is going to make a shit load more money than the 10R.
Every CA dealer I have called about OTD prices on the R1 wont even touch the price qouted by LAcycles for 11780.00. Which isnt that great either. However, more than 1 dealer in CA I have talked to is willing to match the 10999 otd off I was given. As well as beat it by throwing in 3 year extented for 100 bucks, etc. Lucky for me I love both bikes cause there is seeminly not very many waiting lists in CA for the 10R, where if I wanted an R1 at a decent price I'd be waiting towards the end of this year for it.
