Are all chatterboxes compatible with each other? Or does everyone need a specific model? Anyone have a line on a good price yet? I have thought about at a Chatterbox for a couple of years, never had a real "need" to buy one, but it sounds like this will be the year to do it. Ozzy.

chatter box info

I went to the RKA site. They are real advocates of Chatterbox's. Much to my surprise, they don't sell the X1 and X2 units. I emailed Richard and asked why.
He replied :
quote:
Hi Ozzy,
The X1 and X2's are just not what they should be yet.
There are numerous problems.
Kathy and I have reverted back to the MulitSport 2 channel jobs until Chatterbox decides to get ALL the bugs out.
. Does anyone have any experiance with the X units?

Ozzy.

I heard from a guy at the LA bike show that he and his 3 buddies had numerous problems with the x2 model....22348bcvc and I were going to buy two and decided not based on his experiences.

i have the X1 (i think), same as dino & fish & PK in any case. works great. didnt have a prob the whole ride back from laguna. install the mic & earphones in ur helmet properly (under the materials) instead of just velcroing them on like the instructions suggest. that way it stays in place.

also, on dino's advise (he's been using these for way longer), we used the PTT button instead of VOX. the VOX dont work too well. u get used to the PTT button real quick. dino suggested putting it on the left index finger, then just rolling the finger to press the switch against the inside end of the clipon grip. works real good. still, a good VOX function would be much appreciated.

I saw a post on Easy's board where a guy wired the ptt into his hazard lights button. He said he removed the pin in the switch that locks the button in one position, so that it functions like the horn button. He also mounted the chatterbox on the left inside of the fairing. I wonder how well the signal would work mounted there as compared to being helmet mounted.Hmm. If you don't give a rats ass about the horn , then then horn button is a very simple switch to utilize.

When is everyone going to leave the PNW to head to Laguna?

I plan on leaving Spokane on the morning of July 6, heading toward Portland. Anyone going to be hitting the road then? On the way down, camping or motels? What did you guys do last year? I am an early planner as you can tell,LOL. Ozzy.

i would say thats about the same time we'll be startin out. last year we left 5 days to get there, but we want more time to play this year, so it will prolly be like the 5th r 6th. we start in vancouver, & head slightly south of portland the first day.

if u'll have us, id love to stay at ur place first night again! figured we'd a scared ya off the first time tho honestly tho, it may be too many people this year to do it the same way, but maybe people can jsut pitch tents outside r something if that works for u. i remember u were itchin to show us some of the local goodies, & it was a real shame we didnt have time to check em out. i think we'll end up takin more time this year so we can do that. is ann & co still planning on driving support like we were chattin about when there?

yo fish, Duc Hunter mentioned on LAB that Fox Hill was listed as 'general camping'. Does that mean we'll have to kick people off of it?

Good point Dino!
Now for my questions:
1: What is going to be the arrival day at Dino's?
2: What in the hell is a "Big Dog Pass" at Laguna? I received their brochure in the mail yesterday. They want to sell big dog pass but don't tell what it is as far as I can see.
3: Fox Hill camping, track map doesn't show it. Is it a campground or just the top of the hill where you can toss a tent down. $30 (adv. price,$45 at the gate) a nite per bike for a spot in the dirt seems steep to me. Double that and you can stay in a motel, hmmm.

Ozzy.

the package we got last year was $165 for tix plus 2 nites camping & a $15 handling fee *choug*bullshit*cough*. $60 of that is 2 nites camping, but a camping spot can be shared by 2, so its only $15 a night. fox hill is just the hill between turns 5,6 and 7. its not set up as camping sites tho, its just a big open area where u can pitch ur tent.

and dino, thats very cool of u. lots o people just wouldnt be willing to have so many people over.

Ozzy, bd pass gets you everywhere, even in the "hot pits" during qualifying.Includes preferred parking so you can park right behind the grandstands, reserved seating in the stands for sat.and sun....etc.,etc. (don't know the answers to the other questions yet,but will work on it!).................Robert,......DO IT!!!!!

Yes, since I brought down my Buell, they required me to keep it out of sight.
