Motorcycle racing on Vancouver Island at Saratoga Speedway!
The Speedway Roadracers Club, a local Campbell River/ Courtenay motorcycle club, will be hosting a 7 event series for the 2002 season. Rules are basic, as is tech inspection but safety is not compromised. Bikes don't need to be safety wired for this track. Bikes can be street bikes with glass taped up, or full prepped race bikes. Full leather safety gear plus either built in back protection or a supplemental back protector is required. The racing is tight and fun and takes place on a track that is a horsepower equalizer, as such there only three classes: singles, twins and multis. Great fun rubbing elbows and stuffing your fellow racers into the hairpin...
The race dates are as follows:
May 11, June 1, June 15, Aug 3, Aug 4, Aug 17 and Sept 21.
What does it cost?
An annual club membership is only $20, race entry fees are $12 per event and practice nights cost $5. There are weekly practices every Thursday from 6pm to 8pm
If you have any questions, e-mail Dean at racer62@shaw.ca or phone Les at Redline Motorsports: (250) 339-2921.
Note: Riders without a valid Westwood or equivalent racing licence need to display sound riding habits during a practice session where they will be evaluated by one of our Senior riders, they must also have a general knowledge of track etiquette and racing signals. New riders should arrive early enough to allow for this process.
