Tell me about NHRA licensing...
Is it 6 total passes? 3 short passes.. 1 moderate and 2 full passes?
The index is from 7.50-9.99. So as long as you run 9.99 or better you can get licensed? Any other idiosyncracies about the requirements?? Who do I have to buy a beer to get one...lol

Weeeeelll
You first have to go get a physical (there is a form on the NHRA website somewhere of all the shit the doc has to test you on....its far from the regular "turn and cough" type dillyo).
Then you make 4 passes between 10.00 and 11.99 I believe (cannot break into the 9s on these passes). Then the last two at 9.99 or better.
Then have at least one (perhaps two) already licensed people to endorse your license (kevin and dean)...and yer done
I think you also have to pay a lil bit..but not sure on that one.
Ive also heard you can make your passes at Jax...you just make more of them (since its 8th mile only) and you have to break 6.50 or 6.30 or somethin..I dunno. I do recall both Tony and Fred getting their NHRA licenses at Jax instead of Gville.

Yup, 6 passes total to get the license. Then 2 licensed people have to sign you off. It's a piece of cake. As long as you look like you have a clue, you can get people to sign you off. Only the last 2 runs have to be in the 9's. They say that the first four runs have to be 1/4 and 1/2 runs, but I've never seen anyone get booted for running these out.
The hardest part is the medical. You need to get the medical before you make your runs, so go to the NHRA website and download the medical and license forms. I think that you are in Florida, right? If so, you're in Division 2:
http://www.nhra.com/contacts/forms/licenseapp.pdf
http://www.nhra.com/contacts/forms/physical01.pdf
The medical is supposed to be as strict as the Class III medical for a pilot's license, but it's not. Any doc can sign this off for you. So, once again:
1. Get the medical form signed off by your doc.
2. Go to a track and make your 6 passes.
3. Get 2 other licensed people to sign it off.
4. Send the forms with the original time slips to your division office.
5. Wait for your license to come in the mail.
