FINALLY DECIDED ON MY WINTER MODS
I have been deliberating for quite a time now as to what my set-up for next year will be. Finally decided and listed below. What do you think guys. I alreay have a Acko pipe, 8 inch over arm, pc,billet basket, dry kit and ign advancer. I will also get my stock cams degreed.
1290 Carpenter Kit with HD valve springs and retainers
Schnitz progressive box
Schnitz retard box
The items above will cost me $2000. Later I will get my spare crank stroked and ballanced but for now I want to run stock.

Personal opinion- I don't think you need the progressive box if you are using the dry kit when used with an 8 over arm. Get the EFIR12 timing retard box for sure though.
If you have the money, get the cams that Carpenter offers to match with his package for the CNC headwork, it works well.

Same thing about the Progerssive controller! Even at 60 HP, the Hit was not too much!

Bergie and Vince,
Instead of the progressive unit I meant the DCS101 controller. It's only $230. And YES if I have some $ left over I would love to get some cams from Carpenter also.

The DCS101 IS a progressive controller... you don't need it for a dry shot at that length wheelbase! Save the $230 and put it in the cam fund.

I am thinking about "Not" Using a Progressive controller with 150 more HP! (At least test without it )

BIG difference between 60hp and 150 Vincent. Applying that much power at once will give you traction problems. Anything over 100 you'll need the progressive box to ramp up the power over time.
Putting 230rwhp down is not difficult, add another 70~90hp, that's a whole other story!!

Bergie, see the smile! The statement at least "Test" without it! I did not want to add the words "Turned on"! I plan to have one, but I also want to see what it is like to spin the wheel at 150 in 5th 1/2 way down the track! It may also sound neat spinning the tire crossing the finish line, but I think I would need to be going slower and in a shorter gear to do that!
AFter all, I do want to have some fun and enjoy this "Other than going over 200"!!
