Raising the rpmlimiter?

Other than buying the tricked out ecu from muzzy is there another way to raise the rpm limiter? I've have a carpenter built 1290 and it makes increased power all the way to redline. It would be nice if I could say raise my rpm limiter 500 rpm or so. There probably could be another couple of mph added and maybe a tenth in the qtr mile. What do you guys and gals think? thanks in advance

I'd also like to raise the revlimiter, just to have a safety margin, but I have not heard of any way other than the muzzy box

I had hear that DynoJet is coming out with something that will be albe to raise the rev limiter. Supposed to be half the price of the Muzzy's box. Not sure if this is true or not.

I doubt we'll see anything new from Dynojet in the next 12 months

too bad a resistor wouldn't work like the speed limiter

Can someone please tell me what the rev limiter is set at. Can't get that info from KMUK. Its not in the factory manual either! Keith

Keith,
11,600rpm on my 2000 as measured by my Fluke multimeter; the tach indicated something like 12400 or so.

I've got a fair way to go then. My bike at 204 mph shows 11,300 on the tacho with 18/42 gearing. So it looks like if I can get the power I can pull another 1000 rpm. Way to go! Keith

Here's an idea muzzy, build a inexpensive computer add on like your bonneville box with the ability to raise the rpm ceiling. Name it the bonneville box II, "removes top speed limiter and raises the stock rpm limiter up 500-1000 rpm " for moderate to heavily modified bikes!! Retail it for about 299.95. Build it they will come!!

I've been wondering if the same company (over seas) that raises the Bbusa ECMs 500RPM can do the same thing to for the 12s?!?!?!

I don't see how it can easily be done. The revlimiter is part of the ECU. I THINK it gets it's input from the crank sensor. And uses it to run the ignition. So you can't fool it by retarding or eliminating pulses. The other sensor, the cam sensor, is used to control fuel injection. So you would have to have something that would 'step in' and fire the coils based on the crank sensor input above the stock rpm limit. Hmm...

why can't an ECU from a 600 be used that has a higher rev limit? The fuel will be reprogramed with a PC111R anyways.

You know, that was tried with the GSXR 600/750/1000. Doesn't work. There's wiring harness imcompatibilities, prollly intentional on the manufacturer's part.

I don't understand how KMI programmed the ECU but the ECU can't be programmed?!?! Especially in this technology day??

Cos the chip is only programmable once, like when you burn a CD.

On the dyno, my stock 2000 12 showed 210 mph @ rev limit. The dyno said 194 mph.
