1270 piston replacement

I can get a 1270 cylinder but the piston have been shaved
for the 1361. What are the options?
Will the weisco 1272 pistons 85.5mm fit or will i have to re-bore and replate.
stock is 83mm and the 1270 is 2.5 mm increase so 85.5mm
If both are 85.5 then why is one 1270 and the other 1272?
Maybe they use different formulas.

Muzzy should have the correct pistons in stock and then you can sell the 1361 pistons I am sure.

Any idea how much is machined off the piston tops? I'm not too sure it would be enough to really be concerned with. You can leave out the base gasket to bump it back up a tad more. Just don't get any closer than .035 piston to head clearance.

No way I'd buy a bored block and then use different pistons. You should always buy pistons first, measure them, then bore block to fit pistons exactly. The different brands may all be same size(doubtful) but you'll have to measure to really know. Don't take anything for granted and always measure things yourself. Last block I had bored came back .0005 smaller than the pistons itself.

Why are the 1361 pistons shaved?! The bore kit is still a 1270...... Just change the spacer thickenss.

Here is a thought, just use the pistons as they are......I don't think U will even know the difference.

They are machined to lower the compression in the 1361 kit. so if you put these in a 1270 kit it will lower the compression.

Keep them and use them at the lower C/R and spray bigtime!

bergie, I don't think the shaved domes can handle much spray. It would be a slug off the bottle.
krexken, what would you do if you damaged one piston?

Just talked to muzzy new 1270 pistons, pin , and rings = $819
I could buy a crank for that and have a 1372. anyone have a buildable
crank for cheap.
