Drag racing with nos questions

I am looking to get a dry setup and run roughly 40 hp or so. My bike is stretched 3 1/2 inchs and lowered. I've run a best of 9.95@142 mph. Since the nos is coming on all at once (40 hp worth) can I use it in 1st or wait until half way in second gear? When do you guys use it? Any advice on timing retard or what octane fuel to use. Any other tips on how to use the juice. Thanks!

depends on your tire id spose.

a small hit like that I used to be able to use right after the shift into 2nd with stock wheelbase....id either wheelie, or break the tire loose if I tried it in 1st.

So you at 60" wheelbase? I don't think you'll be able to get it in 1st without a lot more practice. Pull 2 degrees and run 93 or better. Also ditch the platinum tip plugs.

Ditch the platinum plugs, and subtract two degrees, 93 octane or higher, use it at the beginning of second gear check! What kind of et (ballpark) reduction and mph gain should I expect. Provided the run was executed properly? What about gearing? I currently run 16-47 gearing and it gets me thru the end of fourth gear. What's the maximum size jet I can use "safely" without going boom! Thanks

~10mph et is harder to estimate.

id start with a 30 pill and richen up the PC3 in the upper ranges using the software (not the buttons).
