I probably don't want the answer to this ??????

I have a noise not always under hard acceleration... Sounds exaclty like a chain jumping teeth on a sprocket... Kinda a slipping feeling... Chain and sprockets have about 500 miles on them.... So I think something inside... What are my possibilites... So far only notice it on it hard in first.... Kinda a poppoing noise...

its happening in 1st??? hmmmmm... loose chain slapping against the swing arm???

If it was happening in 2nd, right after the shift it would prolly be shift forks; lots o' folks (12 & Busa) including me have had this, the end of the forks where they push on the gears, get worn resulting in incomplete shifts. BANG - BANG, in/out/in of 2nd. Pretty common to bikes run hard, especially (it seems) to those with button shifters

What sprocket do you have on the front? a 16tooth will skip on hard launches.

Sounds like your chain could be worn out. Put the bike on the stand and rotate the rear wheel check the chain for flexability / free play and noise.

Dry clutch and a hard launch will do it too.

How many miles on your motor? Start thinking shift forks.........But, a stretched chain will do it also!!! I had several chains with less than 500miles be totally useless, so now i use a 530DR non o-ring. That basically fixed the problem.

Make sure the rear wheel is installed correctly. Maybe the cush drive installed incorrectly. Sounds like something is in a bind. Are you sure the front sprocket is the correct one or rather doesnt' have some funky offset? I've put lots of miles and power on a 16 tooth sprocket and never had is skip a tooth. Wore out pretty dang quick though.

Rich, I bet its the cush drive!!!...ZX11s were known to make clicking noises and skipping due to the cush drive...All those HoleShots will do it!!!

Hope its just the cushdrive!!!

Just put brand new wheel bearings in same time as chain and sprockets....

Question.....

Say the bike is off and sitting in gear... I have an aweful lot of freeplay if you try and roll it front to back.... Quit a bit of slack before it catchs either direction... Could that be shift fork related or something else.. Didn't used to be that much slack when new....
24,000 miles...

The slack is not related to the shift forks. It is just something and NOW seems to be too much. They all have slack....I think you are heading toward shift forks.....24,000miles you have done well.
