Keep us posted BA,

I remember the bike weighed 530 at Indy. I weigh 140 nekkid. Add what? 10-15 for clothes, helmet and leather?
Best ET is 9.30 151 in perfect air. I've got a handful of small friction reducing mods and airflow mods that may help now. We'll see.

Ok,.........I CAN"T SHIFT FOR FUCK!!!!!!!!!!! I must have blown 5 runs.....
But, before the night was through, I did manage 2 decent runs with soft 60's. The better one was against an open piped, Wheeliebar, Big-Assed Slick having, DAY GLO ORANGE drag bike fooker. The stands went NUTS when I chased him down and blew by him on the big end!!!
wheelie bar muthrfkr....
1.58 60'
4.183 330'
6.238 @120.37
9.520 @ 148.09
ME Dragbike
.601 .501
1.627 1.443
4.161 3.971
6.19@121.2 6.142@112.72
9.465@149.47 9.747@136.34
WHO'S YER DADDY!!!!
Anyway, I'm rusty. I may need an air shifter. I'll try something a little different next time and see.
I blew one run where my 330 was a ....get this....4.09. Arrrrrgh!
Thanks to EDBADASS12 for letting me use his rim and M/T tire.
The air was not great, but pretty good. it was cloudy all afternoon/evening. starting to get dew-y late, which I'm thinking made the air more humid feeling.....

BA,
That 4.09 330' run woulda been a 9.30's pass for sure.
Have you got any weight up front?
I'll post our results next week (if their worth telling)

Gots new numbers for tonight. They had a new "street legal" racing thing going on tonight. No trailers, slicks, etc. I think about 20 cars showed up and 6 bikes or so, we got to run a LOT.
I ran two fair passes considering I was spinning the tire AND then BIG WHEELYING when it caught.
1.64 ......................1.71 ...60'
4.21 ......................4.264 330'
6.31 @ 118.98 ......6.31 @ 121.35
9.613 @ 148.67 ....9.578 @ 149.53
Those runs were OUT OF CONTROL. Track was HORRIBLY inconsistent for traction.
Here's the kicker.
1st run of the night,.....JUST arrived at the track.
See Brock on a pretty Blue 2002 12R. I'm like, ...Hey, Brock, .......How's that Kawasaki fittin' ya? (He's dipped in Suzuki, and it's a customers bike I believe)
So, we pair up together so that these 2 sweet 12R's can go down the track, and it should be fairly close to boot!
So what do I do????? Just run my quickest time in a year!!
ME ...................... Brock
.515 .................... .341
1.597 .................. 1.660
4.119 .................. 4.308
6.151 @ 121.93 ...6.401 @ 116.52
9.406 @ 149.54 ...9.701 @ 147.10
BOOYAHH!! Spinning the rear Mickey, fighting for traction!!!
That run was fuckin' cool! I could do that all night long.
To Brocks favor, I don't think he's been on a Kaw in 3 yrs, and our clutch is way different than Suzuki's. Not to mention that the bike was geared -1T and +3 I think. Stock wheelbase like me, but that gearing was all wrong, but that's what the customer had on the bike.
WHOOPS! Missed one good timeslip...
.485
1.675
4.209
6.236 @ 122.35
9.497 @ 149.54
Spinning....again! There's a tenth wasted there at the line...

6.151 @ 121.93

REALLY clean pass!!!!!!
how is yr clutch holding up???
BTW: here is my prediction at the pass I KNOW you will make soon:
.515
1.570
4.080
6.090 @ 121.0
9.350 @ 148.0

LOL! Making predictions!!! hahaha That's great! I like that.
That's a solid guess too, although I might give it a 1.55 and a 6.11.
We shall see Thursday, if the weather is nice.
My clutch gives me some chatter right at the turn-around, so I'm getting into the habit of stopping and tilting the bike to the right to get cooling oil on the clutches right there on the return road asap.
She's holding up but won't last to the end of the season.
I've got a whole pack or two of new spares though, it's all good!

I just don't understand the clutch issues that you guys are having?? I am on my second year over 50 passes, 7000 plus miles, just ran a 6.24 1/8 with wheel spin, and two 6.30's 1/8 foot shifting missing 3rd gear. I ALWAYS do back to back passes until the motor gets hot (3-5 passes in 10 minutes)!!! My 60' are 1.5's to 1.6's always..... All I can figure is the launching technique is just different?! Well actually I did change ONE chattered fiber about a month ago.

If you are at a stock wheelbase RA, then I'm a little surprised too. Maybe it's my light weight, but, when I DON'T slip the clutch as much, and I try for quick release and full throttle, the bike ALWAYS gets into a power wheelie.
See, me leaning forward isn't that much mass movement to keep the front end down.
I generally will be revving between 5000rpm & 8000rpm on the launch.
I get anywhere from 25-40 passes before I expect to have some warped or blistered steels. Fibers are always ok.
(Also, I'm sure you know that the 2002's have better oiling than the 1st gen.)
If I bring back a 6.2anything,...I'll know that the run wasn't right.

Well, I leave between 3500-4500 rpms. Maybe that is part of the difference. I am not that fast yet, but i have run a 6.0 in the 1/8. My bike is about 4" over. But I am coming for U!!!

I only leave at 5 g's and run 1.6's 60ft. I trash a set about every 20 passes.
What's the secret Ra12r???? Come on......give it up!!!!

His bike is 4 over!! When mine was 6 over, I got as much as 125 passes on a set of clutches. Now that it is short again......NOT :-)

Maybe the length is reducing the amount of clutch sliding I need to avoid a wheelie?! But, if you listen to bikes leave at the line, you can hear many different clutch styles. Some guys really like to slide the clutch,,,,,

uuummmm. Nope!!! Can't be the arm.... I have a 6" over arm.
Do you ever check your clutches after....say 20 passes???
I do slide the hell out of it and I am at full throttle by the time the clutch is all the way out.

I'm thinking a lot of the clutch wear is from gearing. I rode a friends zx1380?(1290 kit and then he stroked it 4mm)this past weekend. Suspension, gearing, clutch, everything is bone stock except the engine. I felt I really had to abuse the clutch to get the bike rolling at all. Best I could manage was a 10.13 at 146mph. Anyways, my old 12 had 16-46 gearing. Felt totally different. I sold the bike with the same clutch that I put the motor together with and the engine now has around 8k on it. I could launch at a low rpm and torque it out with the lower gearing. Rarely did I get wide open in first gear even at 6" over. I'm sure I could've used taller gearing and it would've made the bike much easier to ride but at the expense of more clutch wear. Oh yeah, this weekend I get to ride his GSXR1400 at the strip! Who needs a bike?
