Shakin tires

I race zx12 and nitrous katana. both using micky thompson shoot out tires. anyone out there experiancing side to side tire shake, from launch to 100 mph, I have tried air pressures ranging from 12 psi to 28 psi. this happens on both bikes. the 12 has stock wheel base and the katana has 68 inches. also wondering what you guys have found as a good air pressure for best traction. Thanks.

I don't think I've seen/heard of tire shake on a bike. Man I must be out of it.

The M/T's ARE known to be 'out of round' sometimes though, or to be somewhat lopsided so that you get a vibration from the rear. I've read that here several times.

As one person put it,......"I order 3 and send back 2".

The M/T I had made the bike wobble horribly crusing through the pits and on the return road. Going down the track, it felt fine. I never bothered to balance it since it looked so out of round it wasn't funny. 12psi seemed to work well for me. I tried it around 20psi and it was slicker than a stock tire on a stretched bike.

I just had a buddy send me some pics of some tires that were coming apart with a split from side to side it will look like a crack... Sorry but I deleated them. I'll try and get him to resend them...

He told me to be careful and check my tires.

They are only good for a dozen hard passes anyway,
get rid of it a hook up with a bar & a slick...

Dito what krexken said...
Out of? a dozzen??? (at LEAST) MC/2s we have only had ONE that was round...IT was bought AT THE TRACK at a ProStar race...
Some are bad...some are WORSE than bad...out of round...

STILL the only tire we will use on John's bike though...just haven't found anything else that works ANYWHERE NEAR as good
We get SEVERAL runs (about 3-months) out of each tire though (maybe Gville and Jax traction is better than where RB runs)...

Dude... I dont know about you..but we all ride "street bikes" here. I dont see where a bar and slick would be contributing to ETs. Learn some throttle control.

Bikes going 2.5 seconds than you'd ever dream arent using wheelie bars.

We don't all only have one street bike...

You can get more than a dozen passes with the Mickey slick,
why can't they make a street tire that will hook - up & last ?

I have gotten close tohalf a season on my 12 before trashing my tire. A friend uses a shinko tire [ithink i spelled it right!] It looks and hookes just like the old yokohama tire we ran before mt came along. so far it held up great this season. I may try one next year.

I have a MT MCR2 with well over 100 passes, and I am still getting low 1.5's with it? hooks just fine.

Oh the New MT do not have that wobble in them. but some of the very first one's had a Peeling problem where the rubber would start peeling back some across one point, weird. but the new one's have them fixed and also they are 2lbs lighter then the old tires, to me it feels like there is more support on the sidewalls to prevent the wobble.

I've had no problems with my Schinko either. good tire for both street and strip as long as you're not looking to 'rail' around corners.

Speaking of which, and just for RedB, I ran several Dunlop207's at 32psi at the strip, with no problems. Dozens and Dozens of runs.
