Nitro nite of fire

I just got back from racing at the Nitro Nite of Fire at Sacramento raceway. This is the first time I've participated in a race where I actually had to qualify. There were 12 bikes and only 8 spots in eliminations. We had two qualifying passes before eliminations.

Just my luck, it was 100+ degrees today, and the first round of qualifications happened to be at 2:30pm. (the hottest part of the day.) I didn't adapt well. It was so bright that I had trouble seeing the lights. I ended up cutting a piss poor 0.681 light. That put me smack dab in last place. I was so overheated that I was so ready to just pack up the bike and leave after that pass.

During the next pass, I pushed one guy out of the group when I cut a 0.472 light. I ended up breaking out in the first round of eliminations. C'est la vie.

Sadly, the two fastest bikes in the group didn't qualify. But, one of them did manage to make a 6.94 second pass. (Yes, this is a quarter mile.) I guess when your bike is that fast, reaction time is not something you work on. ;-)

I hope y'all did better than I did this weekend.

Thanks for clearing that up, Red. Watson wasn't just knocking on the 6-second door at this race. He bust that door down and had the rest of us cheering.

i'm almost scared to think the kinda power they must be puttin out to get a sub 7 run, when ricky's turbo is in the 500hp area (if i'm not mistaken) and taht only gets him into the high 7's.
