John fell down saturday at SEMDRA race...

Well...John was at the SEMDRA race in Ga. saturday...
It was after dark...EVERYONE said the track was crappy (traction) John was Dialed faster than the other guy...he locked up the front brake at the traps...slid through the traps at 102mph (all SEMDRA racesd are 1/8-mile)...
HE is in GREAT SHAPE!!! considering he went down at over 100...
They said he slid and tumbled quite nicely
Bruised BOTH Shoulders, Elbows, Hands, Knees...NO ROAD RASH!!! (Thank You Vansons!!!!!!)...
I was at his place Sunday and he realy IS in good shape...he is TOUGH also so that will help

The BIKE is ALSO...in GREAT shape!!!
Clutch cover, right lower, brake lever, mirror(yes they are STILL on the bike )...
Since it happened at dark...everyone said it was an AWSOME display of sparks and oil fire (oil from hole in clutch cover)...
Some guy is supposed to be sending us a VIDEO of the crash...
John AND bike are both...FINE!!!

I watched it happen, and it was a spectacular wreck. Big shower of sparks and bursts of flame. I was expecting him to be hurt when I got up there, and he was standing up talking to the EMTs - no blood, no broken bones, nothing serious, thankfully. The bike looked fine - a new clutch cover, exhaust can, and some cosmetic work and it'll be good as new.

More good news, I windowed my ZRX motor. I overrevved it spinning in first, trying to shift. Valve float led to contact, broke through the piston, and punched through the cases at the seam. I'm considering a ZRX1200 motor swap. Oh boy!!! :/

Ya...didn't have time during lunch to post ALL the BadLuck from Sat.
JOHN GOT HIS WALLET STOLEN...before he crashed!?!?!? GRRRrrr...
Dean-o launched his Rex Motor GRRRRRRrrrrrr...

Bike is HERE at the shop now (ZX12)...
As Dean said...I forgot to list the Can on the damage report...scraped the front fender a bit and the upper fairing also...
Oil ALL OVER the bike!?!?!? I'm talking all over the body, tank cover, win screen...even the TailPiece... :EEK!!!

John's IS talking about "going through the motor" though
I've told him a FEW TIMES now that he NEEDS to let me check the bottom end after this year but...it looks like it's gonna get done sooner now

I saw it too..........looked real bad! That was the 4th bike down for the day. Because the tower took soo long to report I thought the rider hit the guard rail which would have been a dissaster....I am glad God protected everyone that day!!!!

Glad to hear that the 9.0 bike is still going to live.......

ZRX: bad news man. major bad news. I can only imagine the frustration and financial hit of something like that.

Thanks for the empathy folks. I?m trying to view this as an opportunity. This happened in the 3rd round of Street ET Kier, after the transformer fix. My opponent redlighted, and I coasted to victory in a cloud of smoke.

Ra12r ? I didn?t know you were a SEMDRA racer, have we met?

Glad no one is hurt for sure. I feel lucky the oil didn?t coat my tire, could?ve been worse. I?ll update as the rebuild progresses, hopefully I can get something together by Aug 16, when I can go back to that crappy track and try again.

I just found a complete '99 ZRX motor with a bad rod bearing for $500 I'll be back to a stock head, stock displacement, stock compression until I get the SBM hunk reworked.

Hey Kevin, think Ryan can port a head for big valves in a month?

Thank you everyone for the good thoughts!!!
John didn't feel good enough to go racing (his Z-1-R) last night but...he's doing great...WORKED all week (NOT easy work either...Tractor Operator)...

DEAN...
I was going to reply (before I finished reading)...
NO FREEKIN WAY...will your bike have a "stock" head!?!?! as long as I'm around DUDE!!!
If we HAVE the valves here??? I'm sure Ryan will only take a few days to do your head...2-weeks tops...

We just tore-down his Bbusa last night (after hours) to the last nut-n-bolt...to have the frame Powder-Coated...
He can be Looney...NOW he is going to sell his 1430-BigBlock (already sold to the guy that bought his 1st Bbusa...so we still get to build/RACE it ) and we are going to build a "smaller" motor for LOST OF SPRAY
I WILL CALL YOU TONIGHT Dean!!!
Forgot my phone today...
