Crazy clutch pack set up

Pulled the clutch on my new A2 motor for the first time and couldn't believe the set up of the steels and fibres. All seemed normal until I got to the middle of the pack and found the *OVER SIZED* friction plate with the two steel spacer rings. Thats a new one on me I thought!. Then when I got to the back of the pack I found yet another *OVER SIZED* friction plate with two spacer rings. Can anyone see the logic in this cos I cant.

I believe it's to prevent chatter and clutch plate rattle at idle or something like that. Mine are gone. I use all regular plates, no springs. No problems. The A1 models only had one spring (I've had both).

YEE-up...
TurboBlew has already posted on this...he has had his clutch appart
I'd run without that also...unless I was 100% street...but even then, I'd replace it with "normal plates" when it was time to replace them...

Ditto what the boys said.

When it came time for me to replace my plates, I replaced used regular fibers instead of the wierd sized ones and the springs.

Soooooo, how do those funky springs affect the 'feel' of the clutch during a drag-race launch?

Help or Hurt?? (hi or lo RPM)

They had a weird feeling and the clutch would fade back and forth.
Funny thing was that I first took the entire clutch apart to get rid of the mini fiber and spring in the front. Never realized to a few months later that there was the same in the middle.
