eBay strikes again

BBT just arrived and delivered an old (but straight) Marvic to match my old Marchesini - $350 with rotors! A little sandblasting, powdercoating, and I'm good to go. I love ebay

I'm happy. This wheel is magnesium, very light. New Marvics are $1200 a set, without rotors.

Yeah, yeah, I'll get it looking pretty, don't you worry :P

I called Mon night - The crank looks great - bearings too, and get this - bearings are all the same size for my old crank - so I'm hoping they will clearance OK. I just got the rod bearings today, so I will bolt it up tonite and see how they clearance. I'll call if I need something -so turn your phone on

I got the head and block back from Jerry Cooper - he put fatter copper orings in the block AND the head - to sandwich a recommended spring steel head gasket. This is how he sets up all his nitrous Gixxer water cooled motors. Seems like a lot of material to smash together, but what do I have to lose?

whats the story with those rotors? u need to use different rotors with the marvic wheels? are those supposed to be lighter than ebc pro-lites etc? they kinda look like carbon surface in teh pic.

The wheel was a HRC unit from the early 90s, the rotor carriers are magnesium, the rotors themselves are steel, but pretty light I think. You could use any rotor, but my stockers are 5-bolt, and these are 6. I'll need to fab a spacer for my caliper to line them up.

New rod bearings? You got that baby split in half again? Got all your new plumbing worked out? I wound up wacking an inch from the bottom of my stock pan. Short block on mine is about finished. Still cutting seats to get shims right. Bout there, finally. Nice grab on the wheel.

Still waiting on the tank for the dry sump Ken. The Muzzy pan is a work of art, I'll post pics when it's all together. You see the sidewinder?

http://plaza.ufl.edu/sabat/sidewinder.jpg

Rod bearings took one too many baths in watery oil - scratched up the crank too. I found a used crank on ZRXOA for $135 delivered - man I coulda kissed that guy. Now I can maybe send my old one to Falicon or APE... & catch up to your displacement Good luck with your motor.

Thanks Kevin The sidewinder is a new Muzzy product - they did a run of 10 I think. It fit perfectly, sounds excellent (has a removable baffle I left in). It saves a lot of ground clearance (once you do away with the sump...) but doesn't leave much for leaning into right turns. Another thing I love is the loss of low end torque (wheelies), now I can leave at a higher rpm and ease into the powerband a bit. Also should free up some hp when spraying - big primary tubes, fat collector. It's a beautiful pipe.

The motor went together well - no extra parts. Ran a 6.17 @ 119 off the trailer Smokes a little tho - I should've replaced the rings. I ran a let-off 6.32 to qualify 7th in Super Gas (6.25 index) and lost in the second round, getting beat on the tree and breaking out despite letting off with a 6.16 @ 113 Best pass was 6.15 @ 119.7 - good mph for the ZRX, at least for 93 gas. Best part - head gasket is holding so far. Next TNT at Gville I'll spray and see if it really holds Now to sleep.

Dean,
going to Lisbon, eh???

Good time of the year if you like grilled sardines and chocos!!!!!! Several festivals in early June. Go to the Alfama and chow down.

I lived for 2 years in Cascais (about an hr W of Lisbon) and developed a taste for sardinhas na brasa along with plenty of Sagres or Super Bock beer.

I envy yr trip!!!!!!!
