HP?
Hi Guys,
Back in the day when my father had his shop with a dyno we had a prediction board. With this prediction board everyone would write down there guess and try to predict how much power we could make on a particular bike. I thought it would be fun to do that on this forum. With that being said I just finished my zx12 turbo bike and listed below is a breakdown of it.
• Stock motor (head has never been off)
• 190 street tire
• Heavy chain with +8 arm
• Start with 5lbs is successful then go to a 7lb spring
Any guess before next weekend???

Good news, dyno day is tomorrow! Bike is running great as I have been tuning it on the street with the extremely easy to use PC-V with 3 bar map sensor. Any last minute guesses for hp?

Hello everyone,
Thank you guys for guessing and we have winner and the winner is KZ Scott! Well he might of won because i did have some boost creep which went in his favor since he had the highest prediction. Final number on a 7lb spring (with creep) was 303! Great day at the dyno as i made some power and didn't hurt any parts. View the YouTube clip listed below.

Nice! What are the details on your turbo set up? I'm thinking about starting a turbo setup on my 12.

Hello ZX12,
I'm running a T3/T4 turbo on a stock motor with 1000cc injectors controlled by a power commander V with an ignition module for timing. As for the header and charge pipe i fabricated them myself. Hope this answers all of your questions.

Hi KZ Scott,
Thank you again for the lock up as it's worked perfect on my bike. I would be happy to post pics of the dyno sheet just don't know how. There was a small spike when coming on the rev limiter on two passes (both over 300). All other passes where high 290's but i told my buddy that was dynoing my bike i don't care as i am counting that 303! The bike creeps +2lbs on 5lb spring and 2lb on 7lb spring. Once I build the motor up and turn up the boost i doubt that will be an issue anymore.
You are absolutely right on the turbo 12 club and sometimes i ask myself why i am spending so much time and effort on an old engine when i could just go and buy a 14. But, i still do love the 12's and hope to be going fast on my new turbo bike soon.

figure 290 without that spike at the end. and the correction factor is 1.06, so about 275.

Something is very incorrect with that DYNO .28.45 pressure would put you somewhere around 2000 feet. Scottsdale is about 1300 feet.Even in STD the correction factor should be no greater than 1.04 so at least it would be 2% less

Hi Scott,
I think the two reasons i am having a little creep is 1. to small of a wastegate and 2. the wastegate tees off my last tri-y before the turbo at a perpendicular angle and does not get the proper flow needed. I am happy with the set up now as it is very repeatable and is making some power. The Power Commander V i have changes the tune depending on the boost and also pulls out timing on the fly with the higher boost.

Hi Johnny,
I have lived in Phx., AZ my entire life and have been around a lot of dyno tuning on multiple dynos and the best correction factor i have personally seen is 1.03. Unfortunately we do not have the air that Florida does. By the sound of it you understand this topic more then i do and I would like to learn more of what you think. FYI this dyno room is a sound proof/ vacuum room to keep the shop quiet if that plays a factor. Even if it was 1.04 that would be 6hp less then what is made which is hardly anything. To be honest the only number I care about is the ET.
Any guess on my first time out to the track with my low boost setting that made 282?
Joey
