NEED HELP (DESPERATE)
You may or not know that a couple of weeks ago I damaged my motor. Since then I managed to track another one down with only 5k miles on it and yesterday my local Kawasaki dealership put the new motor in. Engine went in no trouble but the fu**ing thing wont start. The new motor came without the Alternator, starter motor and the injectors which they transfered straight over from my old motor. This is a Official Kawasaki dealership so they have tried all the usual stuff. My old motor was a A1 and this is a A2 but that shouldn't make any differance. The compression is spot on as was the valve clearances. Got a good spark aswell but the thing wont fire up.
Any thoughts guys

Are you getting fuel? Is the fuel pump coming on when you turn on the key?

Yes, the fuel pump comes on when the key is turned.

They likely connected / have the fuel lines on backwards.

swap the exhaust cams! I've heard the pick is different.

I've heard this also but was told the bike should still run and with a fuel management device was not an issue?
Could it be a fuse??Could you take out and injector and see if it sprays while cranking?

I would double check all of the connections and make sure everything is connected correctly. kill switch on, does it turn over but not start or does nothing? there is a wire on the left side on top of the motor by the ram air, and is that connected? Or could be a bad atmospheric sensor. had someone that had one of those go bad and bike would not start he told me about.

Yes, the bike turns over and makes all the right noises. Sounds like it will start but just wont. Tomorrow they are gonna check all the connections and sensors. No F1 light appears so I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the ecu.

last week i blew the fuse to my tail lights and the bike did exactly what yrs is doing. Not saying that this is it...

might try a little starter fluid in the airbox to see if it gas or fire.

Don't do it. Just pull a coil and plug and see if it's getting fire. It's about got to be one of the connectors screwed up somewhere. The connector that goes to the TPI and something else over there are identical except for color. Make sure they're not backwards.

i thought that the triggers off the cams we're different, which would put the spark at the wrong time, maybe a different year, not sure

You might contact Doug. Probably ran into this on the Kawasaki powered race car stuff. If indeed you have spark, and fuel it would then stand to reason and vote is the cam or ignition triggers are different.

Scares the ba-jezus out of me that any "DealerShip" can't figure out what it is...
Crap...even if ALL ELSE FAILS...they can pick up the phone for Factory Support...
Anyway...I'd check ALL the connections/fuses...then spark (be sure it's timed right if it does spark)...then spray some start fluid just to see IF it will fire...
We had a Bbusa in here that one of our guys (god I hate saying this) hooked up the fuel lines backwards (roll-eyes)...the bike fired but would stay running...

They just found out that the Exhaust inlet cams are different from the A1 to the A2 and thats why the timing is out of synch. In about 2 hours time I will know for sure so keep your fingers crossed guys lol.

I think he is saying that the timing pickup is different on 2000 AND 2001
exhaust cams. That's what i was tring to say eariler.

Hi Guys,
Sorry I was a little late in coming back to this post but I was on holiday at the weekend. Anyway my new A2 motor is finally running. The problem was indeed the exhaust cam sensor pick-up. I reckon there is about about 15 degrees difference between the A2 and the A1 pick-up. The guys at the shop done a very simple mod to the pick-up and she started up straight away. I would really like to know why Kawasaki made the A1 and A2 pick-ups different. If anyone could tell me I would be very happy.

Glad you got it sorted in the end mate. Probably the pickup difference is to do with the 186mph restriction.

I did talk to the guys at the shop about what you have just mentioned regarding the restriction but they are positive that the ECU takes care of this. Anyway I'm back now and it sure feels good. I will take the bike up to Brad soon and see what this A2 motor makes on the dyno. Why I'm there I might as well get him to fit the air shifter too.
Hey Lorc, big thumbs up to your 205.5 mph at the weekend. Only 3 mph behind Pooh's 1500 busa. Shame about your old man though!. I think thats twice now he has managed 199mph. He told me you had the best of the wind conditions copmared to him lol.
